Seattle finalizing a contract with Dreidger 3 x 3.5M.
NYR working on a 6 x 3.6M contract with Barclay Goodrow. Those Rangers vs Capital games will be interesting in the upcoming years. I can see Wilson and Goodrow squaring off in every game. - boilermaker100
Goodrow isn't a fighter. |

Vinnie>Gaudette
That is why Gaudette was left dangling out there. Both will be cheap and Vinnie is the better player |

So, I'm one of those people who would have left Kampf unprotected. It's not that I don't value defensive play from our forwards, it's that I don't think we are in a position where it matters. Bottom 6 players are much easier to come by, so why protect one when it, ultimately, won't make a difference for this team. Gaudette is probably a third line player, so bottom 6, but I think with his stomach issue behind him, maybe he could be a top 6/bottom 6 tweener. I'd like to keep him around for a year or two to see if he can figure it out.
I believe NYR are much closer to competing, and they have a lot of top 6 pieces. It makes more sense for them to throw some money at a solid, defensive bottom six player. - tvetter
A lot of posters on here burning brain cells thinking about who on the Hawks are tweeners or Top 6 or Bottom 6 forwards or 5/6 Dmen.
The reality is that with this current collection of talent if the Hawks protected only 3 players (Toews, Kane and ADB) and left everybody else exposed, Ron Francis would still be thinking 'do I really have to pick somebody off the Blackhawks?' |

David Pagnotta reporting that there's some buzz brewing with Seth Jones to the Stars with John Klingberg as the centerpiece. Other assets would be part of the deal but that's the base. - Theo Fox

On the Rangers, Ryan Strome is rumored to be on the trade block with the Senators as a possible destination. If Strome leaves, then that opens up a spot down the middle for the Rangers to fill. - Theo Fox
Maybe if we brought Ryan here it would be good for Dylan... |

That is good to hear, CBJ’s asking price is not in Hawks best interest. |

Maybe, just maybe he currently has more skill, but Vinnie is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Bottom line is that neither one moves the needle, as a matter of fact none of the unprotected players move the needle, Seattle can have them all. |

Hell no. Especially when he’s injured. |

Give Kampf a couple of decent wingers in that role and fans will raving about him. Would he be a huge loss? Not on the surface but do you(not you) want rookies trying to take on tough match-ups?
He can be replaced for sure but Kampf is cheap, works hard and pretty damn good when he is played in the correct role. - Elbows15
Didn't he play with Kane and/or ADB last year? |

I think this was his point (ultimately). If the biggest gripe we have is picking between Gaudette and Kampf we are either missing the bigger picture, or we don't have a single issue to worry about. I'll lean towards the former. |

Two decent wingers "in that role". Context is key. |

It's no different than when Vegas came in. We lost TVR. Nothing the team needs or will miss. |

If he was healthy, definitely think about it, but he's not. It'd be like going to the dealership buying a new car and it didn't run. |

Yep, good to hear from you Breadman. Interesting that three years later TVR is protected by Caps. |

Yes I know, and I agree with the bigger picture comment as well. I’m more interested in players Seattle chooses, than one player they choose from Hawks. |

And from what I saw, Kempny and Justin Schultz were not protected. I get he's cheaper, but he's not better. |

I think it's crazy how many cap dumps are in this expansion draft. I didn't think so many players would waive, not like they will all be selected or anything like that. Struggles of a flat cap. Seattle going to be Vegas competitive out of the gate? |
