Yeah pretty much. This team is going to have some new faces. Whatever salary we lose from expansion will all but solidify that notion. I know it’s a long shot but if we could add Landeskog and keep our UFA’s/RFA’s wow. Between seemingly keeping varlamov and signing sorokin we would be an absolute force.

As good as this team has been in the playoffs the last two years Cpt, Isles have to be much harder to defend. If they can land a Landeskog and with Wally full time this could be the difference to pushing the Isles over the top.

They don’t NEED Landeskog (but it’d be nice). I think just adding someone that could chip in 25-35 goals, especially scoring in the playoffs, could put them over the top for cup contention.

With Ladd and Leddy’s contracts of the books, and Detroit retaining 50% of Paniks contract, maybe the Isles are going after Taresenko. And I’m not sure how I feel about that.

They need an impact forward that will not fold against a team like Tampa like Eberle. Cannot get shutout twice even against Tampa.

Absolutely agree. Just to be clear, I’d love it if we got Landy. My wife would getting the banging of a lifetime if we got him.

Obviously Lou realizes deficiencies in the line up and is trying to address them. Unlike a previous, unnamed GM who did nothing to address needs.
Love Lou.

They need two shoot first players added to the top 6. Hopefully Wally is one.

I agree. Lou has to know bringing back the same team will not get it done. He needs one bold forward move.

Schwein’s “It’ll Never Happen, but I Get An Enormous Curly Chub Thinking About It” scenario.

Varlamov

So, don’t think we’re getting Suter. And I don’t think we’re getting Landy. I do think we’ll get Parise. And maybe Taresenko.
At least Lou is trying to improve the team.

We’ll find out what he pulls out of his hat some enough. He’s certainly clearing cap space, so I think there’s something in the works.

Losing Leddy creates an obvious need on our blue line. Dobson has a ways to go imo and I think both trotz and lameriello agree with that sentiment. They’ll give Bolduc a shot of course but if you think he gets anything more then a look here and there you haven’t been paying attention to trotz’s line up decisions. What I’m saying is expect them to add a defenseman if we lose any in expansion especially. As it is we are spread to thin on defense especially after losing Leddy. We were thin before losing him. If we shed an additional 5 million or more from expansion they’ll look to add an impact forward. Lameriello is of course going for it so it won’t be just a Parise (who I think will be an Islander) imo it’ll be someone else.

Suter is most likely going to command more money then we can give but with that said both lameriello and trotz are defense first minded people. Adding a regular top 4 will be a big priority imo.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get Goligoski.

Agreed. Isn’t it nice to know that we now have a competent GM that sees the issues we see and tries to address them and improve the team?

No question Cpt Bolduc is going to have to blow Lou and Barry away to get more than a look and I expect another dman to be added. I'm fine with Zach for a year on a cheaper deal as long as an impact forward is added as well. The biggest work needed is on offense though.

Getting Ladd off the books was huge creating space to add pieces.

100%. Lou is just waiting to see how much salary we shed during expansion. He probably has multiple deals in place I would think…

With Lou at the helm, everyone is an option.
Random thought, anyone have interest in bringing back Z for a year? (Unless he signed or retired and I haven’t heard about it)

I prefer my GM’s to do nothing and keep coaches on the payroll solely because they don’t talk back not based on performance.
