I'm gonna miss Myers. Losing him is gonna come back to bite CF in the ass big time.

But let's also not pretend that Ellis doesn't move the needle. If healthy, he's probably better than Provorov.

- Tomahawk

Well being healthy is the big thing. He’s got an injury history. It’s a now move.

Over/under until we start complaining about dumping Ellis' salary?

I'll start it at the end of the 2023 session and I'll go under.

funny everyone hated on meyers and patrick all year, now not liking this trade. Cant make this stuff up, this board is pure drama. We are trading potential for actual skill.
- bradster

Well the board is the board but I never hated on Myers

Tarasenko is being exposed
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

That is bonkers. I wonder if there’s more to the injuries than we know.

Please. Patrick is currently a 4C with head problems and Myers spent an entire season last year looking like he couldn’t handle 2nd pair duties. This is more than a fair trade.
- hereticpride

meyers has played more bad games in his career than has had good games.

Definitely. This is the kind of move you make if your team just made a deep PO run and came close. Not the kind of move you make when your team is picking 13th-overall.

Between this and Hayes, if the Flyers don't win the Cup within the next 3-5 years, they're gonna be in a world of hurt.

Giroux is 33. Should we cut him?
- hereticpride

Is this a joke? Patrick and Myers careers haven’t begun yet. We gave up both of them for a guy who isn’t at minimum a star or a stud. When Patrick and Myers find their way, Ellis’ career could be done.

Because Flyers are nowhere near a contending team even if it was Makar partnering Provy. Their hope, if any (and it wasn't much) was for the future.

They just signed a 30 year old guy with a significant injury history who has a large cap hit for SIX MORE YEARS? For the sake of a few more wins this year and next and a token appearance in the playoffs?

- PT21

They got better. Period. Let's see how the expansion draft, entry draft, and free agency go before you cry for about "a few more wins".

Ellis is 30. This is an awful move.
- SuperSchennBros

And? Nisky was 32 and people were saying he was going to be toast for us. Ended up being arguably our best d man, then people were so sad that he retired (rightfully so). It's weird when people think players just stop being good once they turn 30.

Patrick looks very much like he was going to be a bust if he stayed on the Flyers. He wasnt putting ANY effort on the ice which is absolutely pathetic. Myers is ok, 25 years old and shows some promise, but I dont think he will ever be as good as Ellis is at this point in time. It fills an important need for sure. Provy seems like he is a guy who needs a steady D partner to truly succeed.

I like this trade. Patrick has to be the worst pick EVER. Lazy pick, old boys club pick with Makar, Petterson and Heiskanen on the board. Myers had promise but was awful last year. Ellis in his prime, we ain’t done. Gotta fix this flawed team we have been all arguing about for almost a decade.

A world of hurt as on the ass end of a 60 year Cup drought? I not only expect it, I guarantee it.

I think this trade will work in the short term. I'm not sure what this does for the future of the Flyers.

Myers is 25. He has not been good. Patrick is barely keeping a NHL job, has head problems and reportedly wanted out of town. They addressed a glaring need with this move. Idk what people want/expect Chuck to do exactly

You think Ryan Ellis is Matt Niskanen with all the success Ellis has had in his career. Here’s an idea, let’s start comparing Ellis to Kimmo Timonen when the only thing the two have in common are they both were traded here from Nashville and are both tiny in height.

OR maybe, just maybe he is pretty good in the OZ so when there is a faceoff there and he is sitting on the bench, they put him on the ice.
- Richieattack18

He has always been good in the O zone. His defensive coverage has lapsed this year.

Ask any Preds fan.

Overall in the big picture, I give a thumbs down on this trade. Makes them better right now but how much better? Are they a Cup team now? Nope. This is a future team, not a now team. Ellis has too much term.

I'm not complaining. I think right now they are better on paper than last season. I'm just thinking long term in about 2 or 3 years.

Ellis is a very good D when healthy. He fits for Provy if they want him too, I don’t like giving away the young pieces. I will wait and see what else fletch has going

Is it a hockey trade? Yes, good value but…

What do you Myers hasn’t been good? He had one bad season. In the playoffs one year ago, I liked what I saw from Sanheim and Myers together than I did from Niskanen the same playoffs.
