This trade alone I am not a fan of it

Having a beer so need to think on it

I mean can Ellis be Nisk, probably. Do them sign surer and move sanheim to the right

Will need a few to process this. Ellis will be good Provy partner, but think selling low on Patty and Myers.

Wow, another shoe to drop for certain ( not a domino like Ek says , sorry)
All I can say he is he better stay healthy....

IMO 2nd pair D and a bottom 6 center coming later after the exp draft

I dont think Patrick will be much of anything , no matter where else he goes.
Of course we all know about traded Flyers winning Cups elsewhere but my gut says he cannot overcome his fears and setbacks to be a top 9 guy..

Can’t wait for all those who hated the idea of the Flyers trading for Ellis to now like the trade.
- PLindbergh31

It's a win right now. Its a good trade. Ellis is def better than Myers will ever be IMO. Patrick could be the one we regret although hard to with Coots, Hayes and Frost, someone was going to be the odd man out. Either way we filled a need

# 2 overall draft picks should have more trade value. Patrick was a bum from day one, so that asset become a 30 year old defenseman in decline with a 6 year contract.

Magnificent!!!!

Flyers acquire a frequently injured guy who has missed huge chunks of the past few seasons, who is clearly declining in his defensive coverage, who required an Gustaffson like protection in his offensive zone starts, who is 30, and who has SIX MORE YEARS of a 6.25m contract to go on that deteriorating body, for two young kids they gave up yet again for in the infancy of their careers.

Myers turns 25 next season. He is no longer considered a prospect. His game is flawed. Still has time to turn it around. But questions remain.

Patrick showed basically nothing last year.

People are concerned about Ellis and his health. Fair point. But the same can be said for Patrick.

The big risk is Ellis' contract. He is 30 and has 6 more years at a 6.25 cap hit.

Ellis is the better player in the deal. Myers and Patrick still have time to get things going. Time will tell on those 2.

The development of York and Zamula may have made it easier to move on from Myers.

After-all. The Flyers can't hold on to these players for ever. At some point they need to produce or be moved out so the next generation can slide in....i.e....York and Zamula. Maybe others.

Not ideal trade but nopa the bust is gone. Myers may or may not become decent. No big loss in trade. Ellis is decent too 4 d with some time left in career. A bit old but not a deal breaker in this case.

I guess long contract for 30 year olds tells us the rebuild is thrown to the wind. Sign coots now. Typical philly

He is 30 but he isnt in a decline. He is in his prime. Dmen hit their prime typically around 28.

Unforyunately you cant do anything about Patrick's trade value. Everyone should have known his value was low and moving him would be selling low based on the last 2 seasons. That is why moving him likely wasnt the best move unless he doesnt actually pan out. Still a lot of time for him to get it together. Only 22 years old.

For all of us who say Flyers are a deeply mediocre franchise who lack upper echelon talent at every level: in their management, in their scouting, in their players, this is bittersweet, Pyrrhic vindication.

Gloriously done, Chuck. Way to save your job kinda move. First Hayes, now this. Now, get Giroux signed to a nice long contract, and step HARD on the gas towards another decade of mediocrity.

Roman Josi had the exact same deployment. Is he sheltered?

No idea, you'll have to ask CF what he thinks he's winning.

Big believer in Patrick developing down the road but I can’t complain about this trade. This is a huge boost for the defense. Myers will not be missed after last season.
