dont remember the topic, what poile thinks about what? getting rid of Ellis? Prob has too much money tied up in his D would be my guess. - bradster
No not about getting rid of Ellis. You made the statement that Myers is developing in the wrong direction. If that is true, then why did Poile want him in a deal?

Let me put you out of your misery, my esteemed fellow Flyers fan, since your ability to read anything (my novels or Pornhub moaning captions) are likely comparable to you misreading 21-22 as 20-21.
The Athletic has a model of a player's contribution called Game Score Value Added, which uses data for past 3 years. You can read about the model here.
Based off that model, they generated scores for Ellis. Then they looked at most similar scores for other players around his age in the past decade. Then they looked at how those players fared. Then they extrapolated off that to project Ryan Ellis.
And there were many other players on that list. - PT21
Just like everyone else besides 1 other person on this site, didnt read your novel. Glad we traded for John Michael Liles! |

Reading the athletic and a couple other places they are saying flyers won the trade. One source from the flyers said about Myers, he can be a 4-5-6 but he has great tools but he can’t think the game. If I was Myers I would read that everyday |

Myers was an undrafted free agent who worked his way up to the NHL through the AHL and was on an upward trajectory the entire time. Until last season. Now all of a sudden he has hockey IQ issues. That's complete crap. If you look at who got the best player in the deal and want to judge it that way, it's the Flyers.

I just find it funny, if chuck didnt get a D, people would freak. Instead he traded our 2 worst players, for a #1 D and people freak. Thats why i asked would people feel better if they traded #13 pick instead?
Sure Meyers has potential, but i dont think that potential still is what ellis currently is, ellis has a good cap hit. Gets injured a little but if he didnt it wouldve cost us more. There is risk Ellis gets hurt, and risk meyers turns our to be what he was last year. I think its a good trade, its what we needed. Good job chuck. If anyone thinks we were getting ellis or seth jones for Jake, you are dreaming. Gotta give to get, and we didnt give much

When you have been dogpoop for a decade, and have a long Cup drought, you can't afford to stand pat. Especially in a big market. Impatience is part of their history of not winning.
Ellis is a good player, if he plays he makes the Flyers a better team. Not much of a debate about it. |

I think he has plenty of time to find his game. Only way the Flyers really win this trade is if Ellis gives them a good 4-5 years. |

Do you recommend Jefferson or Penn for Ellis to search for a doctor? - penguininnevada

I disagree on 3 things. I wouldn't label Myers as one of the 2 worst players. Ellis doesn't get injured a little. He gets injured a lot. Ellis cap hit is high. |

It was a good hockey trade and the flyers for the best player. All that is left is to see how they play

I read it fully, all 3 experts, as soon as it was posted
You will note that their entire assessment is based on implications for this season and near future. Of course, it that was the only crieria, it would be a huge win for the Flyers. 🤷 |

Is Provys cap hit high?
Meyers is definately one of the 2 worst regulars last year. Maybe you need a refresher of watching him stand beside the net and watch someone go by him and score |

Looking at this trade is a matter of perspective. If as a fan, you want the team to get better now, then this trade accomplished that. No doubt. The Flyers got the best player in the trade. They got a RH legit top 4 puck moving defenseman who is solid defensively. They got Provorov a partner.
The question is how much better did they get? In the long term, what would've been better for the Flyers? If I felt this team was on the edge of truly contending and needed one more experienced quality defenseman to put them in the mix, I'd be all over this deal. However I don't feel they're there. I think having Myers with the potential for what he could become was the better player for them moving forward. Now if you don't believe in Myers and don't think that he was going to become a player, then you would think the opposite and favor this trade. Time will tell. I also agree with those who are saying a move like this was inevitable. That is correct.
