I'm still hoping for big Sam Morin to show us something on the 3rd pair. We have seem to have written him off. I thought he looked solid in his limited role. 3rd pair is fine unless he gets outplayed in camp. Or traded.

He's a UFA. They would have to resign him first.

Best of luck to Myers and Patrick! I truly hope they thrive from this and reach their full potentials.

Overall it is a fair deal, top RHD does not come cheap. Welcome to the Flyers, Ryan Ellis! I hear the injury concerns, but the best part about this to me is the term for a reasonable AAV. They still have to address the future of the RHD position but for now, this is stability. Get out the pen for the starting lineup…

Hart

Provorov - Ellis

Now for the rest…Fletcher isn’t done yet.

- NC Flyers Fan

You do realize Hart will be a career failure and last season was just the start to his bust label...?

SO LONG PATRICK!!! Hope you find some guts and grit in Vegas.

Welcome to Philly Ellis!!!

- Boyer83

Patrick will find the playoffs and a real team willing to compete

Do you recommend Jefferson or Penn for Ellis to search for a doctor?

Look closely at this graph

You post a picture based off of 1 covid shortened outlier season. You can't be that dense or think using statistics from an outlier season holds any weight in an argument right? oh wait, you probably just are that dense considering all you do is spend 12 hours per day on hockeybuzz trying to make yourself feel relevant by typing novels that only 1 other poster ever fully reads.

Not a fan of this trade at all, but it’s a trade that was expected based on the mandate handed down from upper management.

The Flyers will truly never learn. They had an executive that understood team building in a cap environment. Management lost their nerve. Dave Scott has zero guts. Makes me wonder whose son he is to get into the upper echelons of corporate America in the first place.

This would’ve been an acceptable move had the Flyers been close to contending for a cup. Bean Counter Dave Scott obviously thinks so but he would be wrong. And what is about to happen is going to prove it.

Cap hell with nothing to show for it.

Ha ha.

That graph is not based on the current season. It uses the past 3 seasons.

I told you to read carefully. Instead, not only did you not, you mouthed off.

About that executive. Those stories of him being haughty and my way or highway and so on. Was he always like that? In LA? Is he doing that in Pitt?

Or is it perhaps that he was surrounded by so much dumb that he resorted to that out of frustration?

Literally says 2021-2022 season, then compares him to John Michael Liles It is possibly one of the dumbest graphs I have ever seen and proves squat. If anything it proves how delusional you are by saying his biggest comparable is John Michael Liles

They can't afford to sign another veteran D unless they can dump one of their overpaid younger players to make room. And this team has bigger needs. They still only have two NHL centers, and that had a lot to do with the team defense and Couturier getting ground down by all of those minutes.
- hockeyal

That's not true. Laughton is a solid 3C and they have a number of players who could center the 4th line.

You think he is a solid 3 c, I think he can play there but better fitted for 4c or 3rd line wing. I agree center has to be the last thing they address, they need the backup and they will target another D.

Niskanen was a little older and only had the 1 extra year which obviously didn’t happen due to retirement. Ellis does provide a stable partner and fill the RHD spot for the next several years. Really that’s all that I could reasonably ask for. Many of the other options either don’t want to sign in Philly or are only signed for 1 or 2 more years then UFA. Ellis is younger than Burns.

We aren’t getting older with this…it opens a forward spot for another young guy like Allison. Defense has York, Zamula and others waiting in the wings. He didn’t trade any prospects yet or lose a high draft pick. Still can build but from the backend out.

How is replacing Myers who was 25 with a 30 year old player not getting older?

Ohh it's a projection graph comparing him to John Michael Liles. Jesus christ that's so interesting and accurate. Stick to writing novels that nobody reads except for 1 poster. I guess that Ellis sucks balls, thank you for the graphs that now have proven it.

Probably because Myers is 25 and you replace him with Cam York who is 20 years old.

It's not what I think but about what he has shown on the ice. I like him better at wing also but he is more than capable of centering the 3rd line. Laughton is too good of a player to play on the 4th line.

Great player to have, if he is playing 4th you know the team is deep, on this team he will see most time in the middle six. I do like his speed on the wing, flyers don’t have any burners on the outside

Let me put you out of your misery, my esteemed fellow Flyers fan, since your ability to read anything (my novels or Pornhub moaning captions) are likely comparable to you misreading 21-22 as 20-21.

The Athletic has a model of a player's contribution called Game Score Value Added, which uses data for past 3 years. You can read about the model here.

Based off that model, they generated scores for Ellis. Then they looked at most similar scores for other players around his age in the past decade. Then they looked at how those players fared. Then they extrapolated off that to project Ryan Ellis.

And there were many other players on that list.
