Best of luck to Myers and Patrick! I truly hope the thrive from this and reach their full potentials.
Overall it is a fair deal, top RHD does not come cheap. Welcome to the Flyers, Ryan Ellis! I hear the injury concerns, but the best part about this to me is the term for a reasonable AAV. They still have to address the future of the RHD position but for now, this is stability. Get out the pen for the starting lineup…

Need to get another d ideally from ufa or with picks not current roster players. That’s why I mentioned suter. A lot more moves to come.

Josi, Ekhold, Carrier and that young kid, also a RHD. Forget his name.
EDIT: Dante Fabbro - PT21
I don't follow the Press, but Carrier doesn't look like much. He's 24 and has played 24 games in the NHL so far. And now that they've got Myers are they protecting 5 D? (including Carrier?)

It’s a good point. We all knew that massive changes were coming. I can see them getting rid of Jake to make the money work. May have to send picks and retain but I expect that to happen. - Hextall271
they could probably just make it work on the cap as it sits, though I would have to look at it again. i do think 1 of the 3 will be gone, one way or the other. You would like to say JVR but he is a really nice piece to have but he would be the easiest and cheapest to sweeten for the Krack |

Provorov, Sanheim, Gostisbehere, Hagg, Braun, Ellis and maybe Cam York.
In terms of centers, Couturier and Hayes and than you shake up into a bag of who else can play center but there is little to no stability at center because we became impatient.
We needed a RD who is right handed. Nothing was addressed long term, if anything we took away long term plans, and will need to come up with something down the road. Thankfully Rasmus Ristolainen will be 30 in four years, instead of making a trade for him now, while Buffalo is no a fire sale.
This is the second time we traded for a 30 plus year old right handed defenseman in two years and that’s not good. |

Still expect another D Move as well as a vet "D" backup not named Elliott (no offense to the man) and a shake up to the core of some sorts That'll come with time but a good start, solidifying the D department right off the bat without exposing an extra player and also getting rid of 2 protected players and getting back one, leaving us more room to protect and try to entice Seattle to take someone we would prefer they take. |

He’s not a healthy guy - SuperSchennBros
It's funny because Patrick is way less healthy AND YOUNG. Myers also misses his fair share of games due to injuries. We just traded 2 players that have injury problems, 1 of which has MAJOR injury problems/missing games. Great deal imo |

I will say this. I don’t like throwing away all the young talent but we have 1 series win since 2012. We’re almost irrelevant. Not sure this is the right move but I can see why chuck is making a move like this. I hope it’s the end of young players being jettisoned though. - Hextall271

I am not qualified to comment on potential of young players. They seem high on him. I think he played across Josi some last year, though that could be something like Rutta playing across Hedman. What I do know is that every Preds protected list in ED had him in it.
I assume Myers will be exposed. |

Translation: he's been really really really good. - Tomahawk
I love 8n Nashville and have watched Ellis play for years! He is VERY good. He plays a big boy game though so he gets banged up but when he is healthy he is a game changer for this team.
For those who doubted Fletcher he sure does seem to be off to an amazing start!

Niskanen was a little older and only had the 1 extra year which obviously didn’t happen due to retirement. Ellis does provide a stable partner and fill the RHD spot for the next several years. Really that’s all that I could reasonably ask for. Many of the other options either don’t want to sign in Philly or are only signed for 1 or 2 more years then UFA. Ellis is younger than Burns.
We aren’t getting older with this…it opens a forward spot for another young guy like Allison. Defense has York, Zamula and others waiting in the wings. He didn’t trade any prospects yet or lose a high draft pick. Still can build but from the backend out.

I'm still hoping for big Sam Morin to show us something on the 3rd pair. We have seem to have written him off. I thought he looked solid in his limited role. 3rd pair is fine unless he gets outplayed in camp. Or traded. |

I don’t know about most of you. This for me is entertainment The Flyers sitting on their hands is boring. So I’m happy they made this trade today. What people forget is a gm or coach are hired to be fired. So of course the moves they make are more or less about now. You think Fletcher cares about the length of Ellis contract? Nope he cares that he stays healthy the next couple years and is part of the puzzle. Even if the Flyers don’t win but make a run that buys him time. Myers still has promise and so does Patrick. None of us can guarantee they fulfil that promise the same is said that we can’t be sure Ellis stays healthy. Love the action. Keep it coming Fletch , let’s go for it. If he fails we start over and can debate some more. Cheers!! |

Patrick is so bad that the only reason he was in the lineup whatsoever last season is so that they can say he is healthy and some gullible team will take him as a risk in a trade. He is done for. If he wasnt drafted 2nd overall he would have been benched/scratched quite often last season. His niche in juniors was using his size and strength against the youngsters, it's obvious that he is not going to be using his size and strength anymore, especially not at the NHL level.
Also, Ellis isn't 30 something. He is just 30. That isn't old. That is just delusional to think being 30 is too old. |

Not thrilled about losing Myers, patrick is whatever, such a bust. Ellis is better than Myers will ever be imo. Both Myers and patrick have injury issues as well so stating Ellis injury concerns is not a big deal, considering both of the guys we just traded would be missing games from injuries without a doubt. |

I will say this about Nashville.. their scouting department, as far as defensemen go, is phenomenal! The fact that they wanted Myers tells me that they see sole potential in him and they think they can shape him up and I believe that they can. When Myers becomes a solid defenseman just remember that Fletcher had to make this trade for the now.
I'm excited to continue to watch Myers play here in Nashville |
