Ha! What was your expectation for Phil Myers who was never drafted but still made it to the NHL. I can’t wait for this response because he’s a top 4 defenseman. - SuperSchennBros
He’s a top 4 defenseman? Did you watch last season? |

If anything this trade has all but guaranteed that this board will female dog about literally anything. We could trade for McDavid and people would be pissed at his cap hit. - ClaudeFather
so true, female dog about those 2 players all year, and then trade them and female dog they are gone, and we get a #1D with a very good cap hit

i always hoped hed be good, and great size, but doesnt use it, not even in the corners, but the way he looked last year, im not so sure. So we are trading his potential for a sure thing, and i think thats good. and ellis has a good cap #, 6.5 is very good for his skill.

He’s had good stretches don’t get me wrong but he was nowhere near polished. He’s still a huge question mark. We needed a reliable defenseman on the right side, we got one. |

This trade will end up being judged by how quickly and well the young players in the system develop. Ellis will help Provorov, York hopefully will make us forget all about Myers. Same with Foerster and Patrick. No guts no glory...Fletch did a very good thing today |

Ok, if trading a young player based on three season, none of which are three full season. Congratulations guys, Chuck made a great deal. |

I don’t think Myers ever saw a full season. He entered the NHL two and half years ago. |

i liked meyers, always hoped he would work out, but for his size, he plays soft. And you can do that if other players are tough to play against, but when everyone plays soft, its extra noticeable on a 6'5" playing soft

Zhitnik was quite a bit older. Ellis still has 3-4 good years ahead of him. - Tomahawk
From what I recall, Zhitnik was at the end of his career and didn’t provide anything more than the typical “veteran presence” for a team making a playoff run. |

you make it sound like we traded meyers for a bag of pucks. We did get something in return rght? A better defenseman than meyers

So the mark is, young players can’t have one bad season within their development. I get it now. |

Konecny had 3 24 goal seasons in a row. Patrick never came close to that and was showing no signs of approaching that.
Hart had 2 decent seasons in a row to start his career. Losing Niskanen exposed the weak defense and made it critical to bring in a vet like Ellis.
Improving the defense is critical to getting Hart back on track. Otherwise, he will be replaced as well.

I’d rather have Hagg in than Myers after how he looked last year. At least you know what you’re getting with Hagg. Myers was all over the place. |
