Move out players who are not developing. Who are flawed. You hold onto some. Like Farabee and Provorov. Move out others, like Patrick and Myers.

Trading younger players is part of building a team. Not all of these 'prospects' were going to be here their entire career.

People do know this? Right?

Moving them out so the next generation slides in. York and Zamula will now be worked into the lineup the next couple of seasons. As will Frost. Foerster. Maybe the 1st round pick this year(Sillinger? Who is also a center).

This is the natural progression of building a team.

Myers was flyers best D in the playoff bubble. And Patrick was second in the draft. Flyers are as usual lowballed here.

I said basically everyone Hextall drafted. That’s excluding the obvious Provy and Hart. Yes, in two years Chuck has already got two prospects that look better than any of the other picks Hextall made at this point. At this point.

My objection to the trade is not that Ellis is not a good player. He is a good player. He will make the Flyers better now. My objection to the deal is that one, he has too many years left on his deal. Secondly, he misses a lot of games due to injury. Thirdly, I think that Myers is going to be a really good NHL defenseman. I'll look at Ellis play as a Flyers and evaluate it just like I would with any player. MacDonald was an NHL top 4 defenseman. That is a fact but it has nothing to do with this situation. You bringing that up is simply asinine.

Hextall filled the Cupboards just for Chuck to pull out the new glasses and plates and smash them against the ground.

I don't care much about Patrick leaving. I still held out hopes for Myers. Ellis is good and will help them out for sure. But for how long? If he had 2 or 3 years left on the deal I'm all about it. But 6 years?

I feel like the Flyers will rid themselves of a long deal like Jake or JVR only to now take on this one. We'll see.

Right now I wouldn't get too worked up about it. Long term it is for sure a head scratcher.

Obviously the term is long and it’s a win now move but we all knew this was the only direction upper management would accept. It’s funny to hear folks outside of the flyers talk about the deal, the flyers fans need to wake up and realize that Myers and Patrick were nothing, Patrick flat out sucked and Myers was a huge maybe.

In terms of Myers, he is a young defenseman who has played 115 NHL games. That is not a lot for a defenseman. He had a down year last year but I would disagree that he is not developing. Development of players, especially young defenseman is rarely linear.

Maroon probably the worst player all-time winning 3 straight Stanley Cups. Do I see Patrick and Myers winning Stanley Cup 🥤 as the the tradition is for ex flyers. Not immediately. Bolts and AVS look like likely SC winners next 4-5 years.
