One of the things Ellis does consistently is miss games due to injury.

i wish patrick and meyers were wishing games last year, they were awful

All prospects are ultimately not going to be contributors. The Flyers have to decide who to move and who to keep. They didn’t give up York, Frost, Farabee or even Allison. They gave up the two disireable young Players who IMO are the longest shots to be quality players. I like the trade.

I fully expected Myers to have a bounce back year and become a solid NHL defenseman. No, he gave them one spot. Ellis just replaces Myers. What they did is start the move to become older and capped out. I hope any other moves are not more of the same.
- MJL

Ellis just replaces Meyers is the most ludicrous thing ive ever read, they arent even comparable. Ellis is way better, not even in the same convo. Ellis replaces and greatly improves over meyers. You should know better than that

I dont understand how this hurts our future? What did we really lose? 2 players that shouldnt have been playing in the NHL last year. Unless you still expected big things from patrick, but most of us have moved on
- bradster

There's a little thing called cap space. Having Hayes and Ellis on the books when they start declining won't be pretty. It could really (frank) with the Flyers ability to compete in the near future.

I don't care about Patrick, he was a completely sunk cost already. Myers is the player that we'll miss.

Overall in the big picture, I give a thumbs down on this trade. Makes them better right now but how much better? Are they a Cup team now? Nope. This is a future team, not a now team. Ellis has too much term.
- MJL

Nice! 🥳 you usually paint a rosy picture on everything flyers do or don't do. Even when the deals or players smell worse than your trousers and socks.

York and Foerster already look more promising than basically anyone Hexy drafted.
- hereticpride

Here is another poorly thought out comment. So York and Foerster look more promising than Farabee, Konency or Frost? How about Sanheim and Provorov? Or Hart?

Now just praying that they don't sacrifice any more youth before the season begins.

Follow the conversation. The poster said that the deal give them two protection slots. The comment of Ellis just replaces Myers is in terms of protection slots in the expansion draft.

hes making 6.5, hardly breaking the bank. . If hes done in 5 years, we can deal with it then.

Is anyone else concerned that Nashville traded a top RH d man for Myers and Cody Glass? Is Ellis damaged goods?

I like the trade on the surface. We knew it was going to "hurt" to get better. This is a start. If Ellis is healthy, he helps Provy. CF has more moves coming to address d depth and forwards.

I don’t think CF will. I think he will look to move Jake and Ghost...sounds like the AZ desert is taking picks for bad contracts :/

Obviously the term is long and it’s a win now move but we all knew this was the only direction upper management would accept. It’s funny to hear folks outside of the flyers talk about the deal, the flyers fans need to wake up and realize that Myers and Patrick were nothing, Patrick flat out sucked and Myers was a huge maybe.

Seriously?
“You absolutely resign coots”

Do you still feel this way? Sign a 30 year old to term for a “future team”

I said basically everyone Hextall drafted. That’s excluding the obvious Provy and Hart. Yes, in two years Chuck has already got two prospects that look better than any of the other picks Hextall made at this point. At this point.

Also, let’s not act like once Ellis has his Flyers photo op he won’t be anything but golden in your eyes. Guy who spent 5 years telling everyone AMac was a top 4 D men is complaining about landing Ryan Ellis. Jesus Christ.

Thank you! Anyone who is happy about this deal is lost! It’s a no brainer on how bad a deal this is.
- SuperSchennBros

Ryan Ellis is a very, very good d man…a RH to boot. He’s exactly what the Flyers need. Steady and dependable. Patrick has been a major disappointment and am not surprised at all the Flyers are moving on. I was really high on Myers heading into last year but he really had a tough year. Don’t get me wrong I’m hoping this isn’t the end of the moves but I get this one.
His contract isn’t that bad….I’m like everyone else I’m concerned about his health. If press reports are correct the Flyers have had their eye on the player for a while…considering the price I’m happy with it…and I’m not lost.

Myers was flyers best D in the playoff bubble. And Patrick was second in the draft. Flyers are as usual lowballed here.

It's an absurd and ridiculous comment. Even if we exclude Provorov and Hart it is still a ridiculous and absurd comment.
