Lose Zucker in expansion, throw 7.5 million at Landeskog and fill in the other spot with Poulin or Legare?
I'm down - TheGame316
Landeskog was asking for 8-10 mill according to TSN. I'd stay away from that. |

What a journey for Hallander lol
I honestly have/had a good feeling about him. I think he’ll be good. |

With all the movement I don’t see Seattle being as good as vegas was right off the hop. Seems teams learnt something |

I'd give him 8 because I don't care about anything after the next 3 seasons
We never get the prize free agents. It's almost like Pittsburgh is Edmonton or Winnipeg. I'm still waiting for this "Crosby Discount" Ek used to rage on about and how all these players were going to flock to play with Sid for pennies on the dollar |

With Malkin out they can't afford to lose Carter now that McCann is gone
The other 3 are replaceable, Zucker is the most replaceable given his cap hit - TheGame316
Do you really think Seattle would want a 36 year old? |

I just don't think he is that type of impact player and we seem to have a lot of holes to fill. |

The 7th round pick in the McCann deal isn't until 2023... what the hell Ron |

I just think something better could of been had. A 4th maybe? |

If they don't want to take on any term and want cap flexibility for the 2022 offseason, yes I do
Seattle will take pending UFA's from some teams and not even call them. They don't want or need 30 guys under contract

Pens already have three 7ths this year. Don't need another. |

I think the time between the expansion draft and regular draft it’s going to be pure craziness around the NHL. |

McCann paced for 50+ points last season if it was a full year. I'm not sure how a 7th was even remotely close. |

Leverage
Dubas has Hex at the 11th hour and it was this or nothing
Ken Holland should take lessons on leverage and having a team over a barrel and on the clock

Pens had unload him without a roster player coming back. Hallander is a decent prospect. Probably better than whatever the Pens will pick up in the 2021 draft given how weak a draft it is, so that combined with a 7th is fine. |

McCann was going to cost 5 million if kept in 2022, so If Saad comes here this year on a 4 year 20 million, then dumping McCann was a way of facilitating that signing for just 2 million extra in 2021 |

My guess is that it will be a good chance McCann gets taken by Seattle! - stevens87
Very good. He should never have been exposed.
They may get Seattle to get that cap clearing move now. But if they take Zucker that's 2 forwards they need to replace so they are right back where they started. |

Yah, I'm sure Dubas probably wanted to include a roster player, but I feel like he could have finessed a 3rd out of the deal too.
Holland was way to quick to jump the gun on that freaking Keith trade. |

They got Hallander back who is only 21 and was drafted 58th overall in 2018. So that's like getting a second if you drafted him this year. |

So you think it was a good idea to dump a guy making 3M that you think was worth 5M? Guess we should trade Rust too since he's likely to expensive to keep. |

Yah, but young middle 6 wingers with that type of production usually return a pick and prospect in the 2nd to 3rd round range. |

The phrase a bird in hand is worth 2 in a bush comes to mind. Unlikely Pittsburgh gets 2 guys like that with that cap space. Free agency rarely works that way. |
