Interesting. Francis is definitely going to have an interesting pick of goalies.
- Rinosaur

He definitely does. It will be very interesting to see who he goes with.

here's an earth-shattering thought... just protect McCann AND Tanev.

Not sure why this is so hard. They aren't going to take Carter. Give them a choice between Blueger, Zucker, ZAR, Pettersson, or Matheson.

On the scale of credibility, an unnamed source usually ranks close to zero.

I don’t trust Rossi at all, but people don’t tend to leak confidential info and then stamp their name on it. If they do, they probably lose their job, or at least won’t get any more info to leak. All the real “insiders” get their info from other people. They don’t divulge who specifically told them things tho. The insider that runs this site has tons of sources too tho. So....

Deep Throat an "unnamed source"? Writers would have almost no sources if they named their sources.

I've read the Philly blog fairly regularly. One thing that I've always picked up was Hextall is EXTREMLY secretive with his thoughts and plans. Very, very tight with the info. He's the antithesis of JR who babbled relentlessly with his thoughts, emotions and plans.

I have zero faith that our list has leaked. I bet there's 3 or 4 people who know it and not one of them would tell anybody.

If that’s the pens protected list then Matheson is the best player available. JM is a fine hockey player but never is an easy fit anywhere. If Tanev is exposed they are certain to take him. He’s a perfect player to attract an audience in a market that hasn’t seen hockey in a long time. ZAR is easily replaceable Tanev, not so much. I’ve said all along they will protect him.

I like McCaan, but I'm not losing sleep if he's picked. That would mean we're keeping Zucker who I believe is a better player. Between injuries and a stubborn coach, I don't believe Zucker has been put in the best situation to succeed as of yet. He was very good with Crosby when he got here but for some reason that ship sailed never to be seen again.

So does the trade freeze begin when the protection lists are issued? I was expecting to see more movement today.

I just looked over McCanns career stats and I’m not sure Tanev isn’t a better player all together. PP exempt. Given there deployments the offense isn’t that drastically different. I’d bet Kraken takes a d man from the pens.

Will lose zero sleep if they lose McCann. Dont let the door hit ya Jared.
- VoiceofLange

I whole heartedly agree with you. McCann is not physical and does not drive play. He is a nice player but over rated at this point and can be replaced

Rossi is a bumbling idiot. Saying he is a hack is a compliment.

That would be incorrect. He's one of the few play driving wingers that the Penguins have but okay.

And Richardie Dunn had rock solid scoop that the Chiefs were being sold to a retirement community in FLA. Non credible doesn't mean it's not true, only that there is no reason to update your prior beliefs.

In this case, if it hits, Rossi looks like he got a scoop. If it doesn't, it's either forgotten, or assumed GMRH changed his mind.

Jared McCann, a healthy scratch in 2020. The guy with zero goals in 12 playoff games over three years, that Jared McCann. Not seeing where he's such a big loss.

Yeah, what was it, one game two seasons ago in that playoff tournament? Good job on bringing up recent and relevant information.

So what's the motivation to leak something that could cost your job? What is so important about this story getting out? Who stands to benefit? It's going to be delivered soon and made public in a few days.

If there's a betting market on the draft list, use your judgement on whether to take this seriously. Of course, if there's a betting market, Rossi (or the leaker) could be shorting a position.

I noticed you didn't refute the ZERO goals part.

By the way, aren't we living on Jake Guentzel's playoff production from four seasons ago?

To be fair, we're all living on 2 Stanley Cups from 4 seasons go.

McKenzie, Lebrun, dregger n the likes all get info from somewhere. The motivation? I have no clue. Some times info is leaked on purpose. Not here to argue. People always ask who the source is, but in reality, no one would talk if they weren’t kept anonymous. On the flip side, it also makes it easy for someone like Rossi to make up an anonymous source.

Weird thing with McCann offensively is he's been under-whelming as a 3rd line scorer, but when he's been asked to step into a top 6 role or more PP time with injuries he's been very productive.

And with Malkin out long-term, it's nice to have a guy who filled in for him so well on the PP last year and even at 2C the year before. Most people forgot because he went so cold after but he maintained at a 30 goal pace for 3 months while Malkin then Crosby were out and they needed him at 2C.
