The rest of the league knows when it’s time to rebuild and players are scouted more than ever now (covid aside). The chances of landing a major franchise player picking mid round year after year is getting slimmer and slimmer.
- hereticpride
Were the odds of landing a major franchise player ever higher than a slim chance in picking mid round? This is just made up.

If you’re saying choose between giroux and Hayes it’s not much of a choice. And I like Hayes too. - Ftown19125
Why would you even entertain responding to that nonsense?

If you want to look RESPECTABLE as a franchise you do whatever the (frank) Giroux wants. Although I am also told management wants to move him. - black_francis
Chuck Fletcher just said within the past week--verbatim -- "We want him here as long as he wants to be here."

That's not something I need to take seriously or entertain in any way. I notice you didn't actually address the comment I made which I'll note was not against you personally. The odds have always been slim to obtain a major franchise changing player mid round.

So much for the sources who he won't name.

without revealing my source:
i'm hearing there are two cliques in the flyers - Giroux's camp and the Hayes camp.
Tear me apart all you want, question me all you want - obviously I am not going to tell where I heard this from but....
if this was the situation in the locker room - what do you do?
do you hold more loyalty to Giroux (my belief) or do you cater to the guy you just gave a NMC to?

Gotta think that’s just a GM being respectful to his captain & longest tenured player. At least I hope so…
CF needs to be very careful with G & Couts. After this upcoming season we’ll already have the Hayes deal and 2 more years of Jake (it he isn’t moved). There’s also a ton of RFAs next off season, some of whom I’ve been reading are the supposed future of this team.
But as far as G specifically, I think he’s likely gonna want to stay here and want as much term as possible. Are there any captains with a resume close to his that make less than $5M/yr? The only one that comes to mind is Chara during his last few years in Boston.
After this coming season, we could be looking at a few more years of Hayes at 7.1M, 2 years of Jake at 8M+, G at 5M+ & Couts at 8M+ for multiple years. Is that good enough? Because I would think it’ll be difficult to afford any game-changing additions in the near future once they’re locked into those deals |

lets make tomorrow a possitive day, waaaaaay too much negativity around here lately.
Seems like some fans should pick a new team to follow when you have zero confidence they can make any positive kind of move. They will screw up the draft, sign players for too much, pick the wrong kind of players. Its tiring hearing the same negativity every single day. Im confident chuck will make good changes |

Quite frankly when I looked at the veteran core group that you mentioned I can see why this team is in deep doo doo. Giroux, JVR, Voracek, Hayes and Couturier. That to me is a major problem and good deal of the reason that this team is so soft. The only one of these players that actually finishes his checks is Couturier. Add to that the fact that Couturier is basically an introvert and I'm having trouble finding out where the leadership on this team is coming from. TIME FOR A FRESH START!!!! |

There definitely is a pessimistic crew. I think they'll make some moves and I think last year was an outlier. I think their young players are better than they showed last year.

When Giroux was putting up high point numbers and voted as a finalist for the Hart trophy on two separate occasions, was he a big hitter? When Voracek was racking up high assist totals, finishing 2nd in the league one year, was he a big hitter? Has JVR ever been a big hitter? I agree completely that the team as a whole needs to be much tougher to play against but those players not being big hitters and finishing checks is not the issue.

Because if true, it matters. I’ve played on teams that had that dynamic. My father played and coached at the semipro level and dealt with that. A team that has a divided room always underachieves. It’s a big deal. That was at play with Suter and Parise. |

We're looking at two things here. A poor source of anything who claims that he has a source that he won't divulge. Enough said. Maybe Giroux is sleeping with Hayes wife! |

But really what else is he going to say? I don’t believe Giroux is a problem. The problem is he is still the go to guy for this team…..because nobody after him has been able to carry the mantle. |

Not sure if I’m confident ….but until he doesn’t succeed I see no reason to jump on Fletch…..pressure is on him. I hope he can make some solid changes. I guess we’ll see. |

When all your veteran leaders have never been physical players that's a problem in my eyes. Yeah, Giroux and Voracek have put up pretty numbers in some years, but in reality what did it add up to? Nada!! This group has collectively achieved nothing and it's time to change it up. Just my .02.........this past year's Flyers team was the softest Flyers team in their history. It's actually unreal that 3 of their biggest forwards(Voracek, JVR and Hayes) don't play a physical game. In fact, one could argue that they play a passive game. |

I don’t know about the reliability about anyone here. But if you reveal sources without their knowledge, they’re no longer sources. |

I’ve never heard any former Flyer allude to or any negative story about Giroux’s leadership. I agree teams can be ripped apart by that crapp but I don’t see that as an issue in Philly. I think when a team totally flops, people look for answers and certain things are assumed. Maybe the Flyers aren’t quite as good as they played a couple of seasons ago….and hopefully their not as bad as they were last year. I still think they need a couple of big changes or additions to get to that next level, but I don’t view G as an issue.

I’ve never heard anything negative about Giroux. Even at 33 , I think he is capable of putting up 60-70 points. I’d love to have him on my team. An incredible talent and character guy. |
