One comment from Fletcher in his presser the other day that I think got overlooked, at least on this forum, is when he talked about "some exciting additions he hopes to make". I don't want to read too much into this, but I think its fair to say that Fletcher recognizes that he has holes on this roster that cannot be filled by internal candidates, and it would not be too far of a reach to think Fletcher already has significant deals in place and is just waiting for the ED to get over with before he pulls the trigger.
FWIW, here’s what I’d like to see happen this offseason:
IN
A better 1B option than Elliott in net
A quality top 4 RH Dman
Another solid middle 6 center as I don’t think you can risk counting on Patrick or Frost to fill that role.
and
A new assistant coach who is from outside the organization and not a crony of Fletcher or AV. A fresh voice, IMO, would be a positive
OUT
Either JVR or Jake in the ED
Ghost in (hopefully) a trade for a pick or a Dman better than Braun or Hagg
One of Braun/Hagg - BiggE
Frost really needs to step up, if he can’t fill a top 9 role next year I don’t think it’s going to happen for the kid.

I like Frost, but I’m not willing to just hand him a middle 6 spot. I’d look for a vet to bring in on a 1 or 2 year deal and if Frost beats him out, it’s all good.

i feel like I'm the only one high on frost. I see talent in him. I think he could be a good 2C - bradster
if he turned into something similar to Pageau, I will be very happy
If Ullmark is a UFA, then it takes more than Buffalo wanting to resign, the player needs to want to resign also. And it's Buffalo we're talking about...

That’s it though, he needs to earn it. Been talking about this kid for how long now

This will be his 3rd pro season. He lost most of the last 2 to injury. He is 22, So its not like he has been in the system for ages and is 25 years old.
I think sometimes we need to slow our rolls on expectations for young kids. The majority aren't playing in the NHL regularly 3, 4 or even 5 years after their draft year unless they are blue chip high end prospects.
Frost needs to get a full season of hockey in, then let us see what kind of player he will be for the long haul.

More and more I’m thinking they should move up this draft for one of the top 5 D men available. The options that seem to be available via trade or FA are just not worth it.
Our 1st and Patrick to move up and pick up an extra 3rd or future 2nd. I think I’d be ok with that.

Are you being serious? Kid's just 60-something games into his pro career.
Not to mention the few times he was on the NHL roster, he already showed that he's middle-six capable. - Tomahawk
I think he does need to earn it, DUH. As far as time, chasing your tail is never a good idea

I understand that, and wouldn't blame him at all if he simply had no interest in resigning there. He's soon to be 28 with 9 years pro experience, and coming off a 1 year $2.6M deal. If Buffalo were to offer him the opportunity to be the starter and the contract to go with it (term & $), I think he would at least listen. The only way he wouldn't is if he has a similar offer, in terms of opportunity & contract, from another team which I don't think would be the Flyers due to Hart.
As a player, I would definitely be on board with the Flyers pursuing or ultimately signing Ullmark. I'm just thinking that he's a tier above what they would be able to realistically sign as a 1B/back-up player.

I think folks are missing the “if he doesn’t carve out a spot this season” . I have thought highly of him for some time, the instant chemistry with G was great and then he fizzled out. Last season was unfortunate. If he doesn’t become a mainstay next season I’m sorry but I don’t see it happening here. Sometimes either due to injuries or opportunities guys just don’t work out within an organization and I think he’s heading down that road if he doesn’t make it click here.
don't think he is, similar to points and 3C value, not style wise - wcorvette
Gotcha, I honestly think his ceiling could be much higher than that but he has to play.

yeah I have been high on him, like I was with Allison, hoping he breaks through. I would give him some rope, let him play with G and maybe Allison. I like that combination of skill and grit. If he cant make it, so be it but give him a long look with the right players.

Boeser might be available? Chucks gotta get all over that. - hereticpride
Apparently teams are just calling and asking to see if he’s available. His Facebook says: it’s complicated.
