Might as well get paid by two teams.
I'm excited to see what team gives a mega contract to Landeskog since it looks like his extension in Colorado has fallen through. - Pomegrant
Supposedly the Blues, after moving Tarenseko, have a huge offer ready for him. |

Oh yeah, both him and Hyman contracts are going to be brutal after 4 years. Both will get 7 year deals in the open market. And it makes complete sense that both Edmonton and VAN are in on Hyman lol - vlongo4419

McLeod is on his way to being our new Coleman-type player and had a positive year.
Andreas sucked last year.
To me it’s a no brainer to protect Mikey. |

all the more reason NOT to protect subban and use that spot on someone with actual value.
I will lose a lot of faith in Fitzy et. al if Subban is protected. I dont want to hear about his ego or feelings if we leave him exposed. He should not be a part of this team's future even at a very reduced cap hit moving forward. |

I get both sides of the Subban argument. Personally, I like him but his cap hit is murder and he’s clearly seems to be on the decline. The ability to remove his cap hit only lends itself to a more active free agency, or even a Tarasenko (who I admit comes with his own issues) or maybe someone who isn’t even “on the board.” It’ll probably take a sweetener for that to actually happen, and I’m thinking a third round pick, minimum.
No one predicted the Subban trade three years ago. There’s nothing that says it’s impossible or even unlikely. Landeskog? Eichel? With that much cap space, why not? |

I don't dislike the person, seems with his play dipping, his on ice enthusiasm has understandably waned some, but he seemed like a great post playing Hockey Ambassador type for the league. It is all about the cap hit or the fit for where the team is at. If he wants to take league minimum to stay, sure. Even at that price i'd still rather see some young or new blood as to why im saying leave him exposed and hope.
Would you want eichel with the injury concerns though? Can fitz work a deal where its based off of him paying to him actually playing like we see in the nfl(its probably not allowed in our cba?):
we give the 4, 28 and a future 2 that becomes a 1 if eichel plays 85% of games over next two years |

It’s McLeod for me. I’ll take a center who has finally rounded the corner in development at the NHL level. Now that he’s done that, at age 23, I want to see what else he can bring and how much further he’ll grow. |

Man that would be something. I feel like whoever gets him will gain a bigger boost than the loss Colorado will feel.
I think he stays there though. But maybe they’re thinking long-term may not be able to fit him and the other stars under the cap. |

Alright advanced analytics people, talk to me. I just know his fantasy numbers on a loaded Colorado team. I think that pick was 37th overall? In a tossup draft that pick has some value, so Graves better have value and not be another Murray. |

Very good shutdown D, can provide some decent offense and can skate very well. Only 26, and hes apparently 6'5 which i actually didnt know until right now lol. Hes mostly defensive-orientated but hes considered "very shot happy" offensively, he loves throwing the puck on net. He was the main target on defense that i wanted(not including Dougie), either him or Vince Dunn. So im thrilled with it |

Little blurb from 5 years ago.
As a hulking defenceman with good mobility, Graves was a staple on the blueline for the Wolf Pack and represented the club at the 2016 AHL All-Star Game, winning the hardest shot contest with a 103.4 m/ph slapshot. With the Wolf Pack finishing out of playoff contention, Graves finished the season, leading the blueline with 9 goals in his 21 points in 74 games. |

This also means both Subban and Butcher will be exposed. Severson, Siegenthaler, and Graves will be the 3 protected D |

I agree. He fits all the criteria that I have been whining about. A big, physical, shot blocking D. His cap hit is great, and he can is used to playing top 4 minutes already. He averaged nearly 2 blocked shots per game (similar to Murray), and 1.5 shots on goal per game. Age, athleticism, and size are all on his side. It stings a bit to give up the 37th pick in the draft, but I know he will play a large role with this team. Who really cares if this means exposing both Butch and Seig? Smith/Graves are a decent LD combo. Now to find an upgrade for P.K/Sevo |

Smith with Graves could be the cure to our PP woes. A patient passer and an absolute cannon that can skate. I like this! |
