Great deal for the Devils.

Yeah. COL getting a 2nd for a guy being exposed is a good get too.

And who? That is going to play on the top pair and QB the PP. You're talking over 10M in cap hits if it is for longer term players.
- MJL

pretty sure as we speak right now, ghost is playing on the pp

I think there may be a small market for Ghost, someone with a struggling PP might take a chance on him

COL traded Graves to NJ for Maltsev and a 2nd
- Minnyhock

Would have loved to see the Flyers make this deal, but I understand why they didn't. Its better for now to stand pat and let Seattle free some cap space for you and then make your moves.

Right, the guy had 9 goals in 41 games this year and was a -2 for the worst defensive team in the league. We see Ghost every night so we see the deficiencies, but to a stronger defensive team that needs backend offense, Ghost may be a viable option, given also he only has 2 years left on his current deal.

Nope, Larsson is a FA and I still want him. And regarding Ekholm, I say no on him if the Flyers sign Larsson, because I do think the Flyers need a PP QB in their top 4 given I believe Ghost is gone and York will most likely need more time to develop.

But Dumba is an aging veteran whose best days are behind him…at 26?

If you bring in Klingberg, he can QB the PP. Savard can bolster the PK. This would cost the Flyers around $9M in cap space for shorter term versus if you signed Hamilton or Jones for the same cap hit. I would rather have these two players instead of either Hamilton or Jones.

Look at the numbers before and after his serious injury. He is not close to the same player. His age is irrelevant. Plus given what the Wild just did with Suter, I can't see them now trading Dumba away unless they are getting a solid Dman back.

I think it is going to get pretty wild trade wise next Wednesday and Thursday. The expansion draft and entry draft being two days apart is pretty awesome.

Detroit definitely has the ability to assist teams that are in cap trouble. They are essentially an expansion team at this point.

I know we're in a fantasy land conversation, but just thought I'd mention that Dallas has no interest in moving Klingberg and Savard will probably get overpaid big time on his next deal.

Graves would have been the 2nd best defensman on this team. Totally agree with you. Fetcher is going to have to be creative after Seattle selects Hagg..Braun or NAK

Noone is getting overpaid in this league right now. The flat cap in place for the foreseeable future will take care of this. Regarding Klingberg, yes, Dallas may not be interested in moving him. My real point is to get 2 top 4 defenseman in the $4-5M price range, one that can move the puck on the PK and one that can add a physical presence, especially on the PK. These are just examples of possible players that can fill this need. I don't believe in Myers. I don't believe the Flyers can come back with Ghost on this roster and I don't believe York is ready to be rushed into a top 4 role. The Flyers in my estimation have 2 holes to fill in their top 4 right now and they must look outside the organization to fill them.

If Savard even matches his current cap hit on a 5+ year term, he'll be overpaid. He's gonna age like Marc Staal.

The Stanley Cup win all but assures that'll happen... somebody out there will pay for his "ability to win" despite the fact that he played Bogosian/Schenn minutes w/ Tampa.

Book it.

Whats crazy about it. Francis is in total control. He drives the bus if you want to get on you pay the fare otherwise you walk. Only reason for him to take a high salaried vet who other teams are trying o unload is the payoff in high end prospect and or #1 pick. All these fans that think he will take 1 of JVR or JV to be competitive are nuts. JVR and JK couldnt make Flyers competitive how will they make Seattle competitive???Flyers dont pay they Pick Braun..Hagg or NAK guaranteed

While he's in control of who he picks I don't think his options are going to be great without picking some high end contracts. He can't field a team of scrubs. Not when they'll be compared to Vegas' first season and they need to reach the floor. I think there will be a few high priced contracts included in their picks. Will they try and get rewarded for taking them? Absolutely. But I think enough GMs learned not get burned from the last expansion draft. I think he'll get some low end prospects or some third rounders, but I'd be pissed if my GM was giving away first rounders as sweeteners - weak draft or no.
