Maybe when O'Brien finishes off his NCAA career and becomes a UFA then Hextall will look like he got 2 canaries when he tries to sign him. - Glak18
that would be so funny if he goes that route and bolts.

The marginal difference isn't worth the effort/risk.
I think 2021 will look like 2007, minus Patrick Kane at the top. Will be some (very) good players interspersed in the draft, not concentrated at the top. - Tomahawk
Ok I understand what you are saying, but the key word is interspersed, isn't it? Your chances of finding that high potential player would be much higher picking 2nd though... |

Depends on who is doing the picking.

Who would have expected that MJL is really Chuck Fletcher!! - jd250
Well at least I'm no longer Bill Meltzer.

The gauntlet has been thrown down by Vegas, and thus I really don't think Seattle has much of a choice. The expectation from their fanbase will be to be a competitive team, if not right out of the gate, very soon thereafter. I don't think anyone should expect an expansion team to get to the finals their first year, but Vegas has shown with the right approach and smart moves, a new team can be competitive right out of the gate. Thus, barring any trades, Francis will pick JVR. He has the cap space to do it, and he will want a good veteran player to balance with the younger players he selects or obtains via trade or draft. Ghost has too much uncertainty and everyone who watches hockey knows what a liability Jake is. JVR will be the pick! - jd250
So you hope. We'll see.

It was really uncanny to see Fletcher's response to that question, I mean, it was almost word for word from your posts on the topic. |

They will have to compete immediately or catch hell. They are being directly compared to Vegas. - mkabbeko
They will not have to compete...they are sold out already. They will build for a team that will be a contender in a couple of years. francis is an old school smart guy |

Well, I really hope Seattle will pick Jake but I don't think that will happen, so I am trying to be realistic. For the Flyers I think its better for Jake to be drafted for obvious reasons, but also because I think JVR has more trade value, and I am still holding out hope Ghost has some trade value given he got 9 goals this past season.

I don't know, but after watching the presser yesterday I have to say I really like Fletcher and Flahr. I hope they do well this off season and the team rebounds. |

O'Brien was ranked 34 by McKenzie and 38 by Button. I pay attention to these two more than anyone or anything else. - jd250
I am curious why there isn't a ranking of expert rankings in NHL. People who predict the NFL draft every year get scores and reputations. Or is there something similar for hockey? How many of predictions of whoever pan out? How it compares to say an industry average? |

Remember the last two times the Flyers had the 2nd-overall pick in a relatively weak draft? Gross. - Tomahawk
Lmao I was looking at it and saying 2nd round pick? No way. Then oh he means 2nd overall and I’m like yes philly jumps on that deal but don’t think Seattle would do it. Then I’m like yeah wait 2nd overall another nopa Jvr luck pick powers or berniers would wind up if in pass so 🤮like you said lmao |

Bobby Mac's rankings are aggregated from team sources, so that's the closest we'll ever get to a league-wide "consensus".
Button's a bit of a dummy, tho. |
