I never said trade for the guy. Brought it up bc apparently no one wants to play for the flyers.
- arichardson22

Oh I was being facetious. Motivated by the Kucherov thing.

Eichel centering Vlad would be a nice, rested 1st line for the playoffs.

A players level of play normally dictates what their role is and how much ice time they get. Suter led the entire team in ice time in the playoffs. Coaches will play who they feel is playing the best. I think it's what Guerin said, many factors involved in the decision. On paper, I see it as a bad one. Time will tell.
- MJL

Nothing you said is false. Upthread, I said Suter was the 4th best D man on the team. The top 4 D men on the Wild all got 22 min TOI during the regular season.Like every other team there is a sizable gap in TOI between the top 2 pairs and the 3rd pair. Suter earned his time on the ice. The 5th D man wasn’t a better option.

My focus was on the morale dilemma that Guerin was faced with. Suter was definitely staring at a reduced role as the Wild are projecting Addison as a top 4D power play QB as early as the upcoming season.

I agree that like Guerin said, there are other variables at play that neither you nor I know about.

I'm not obsessed with O'Brien, I'm just sick of people calling him a bust when most haven't even seen him play, nor understand that the plan all along was that O'Brien would need 3 years of development at least. I get to watch him play because he plays for BU, and I can tell you he is going to be a good player for the Flyers. I also know for a fact Boston and the Rangers were going to take him with their 1st picks if he was there. JOB was far from a reach, and even with his unfortunate first year with Providence, he is on track in his development now, and I am excited to see him play for BU this year under what I hope are normal conditions, and I would not be surprised if he is not on the Phantoms once his college season is over.

he better be on the phantoms or he'll become a FA.

That cap hit from the buy outs + Eichel. Sheesh!
- arichardson22

cf will trade two firsts for the last 3 years of BOTH Parise's and Suter's buyouts as long as he gets exclusive negotiating rights with them

The beauty/tragedy/reality of it is that even if Wild get McDavid or any other ticket-seller in roster at their contracts, they are still going to struggle with 12,14,14 million given up for the next 3 years.

This is only 1 year I know, but the bottom 11 teams (with the least spending/most cap space) did not make playoffs this year. Indeed, pretty strong correlation between having the most cap space and getting high picks, as you would expect.

https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/cap/2020/

Carolina is the least spending team to make playoffs and even they are only 2 m or so under.

We’re going to find out what kind of GM Guerin is. He’s going to have a hard time keeping Kaprisov long term if he doesn’t get a center. He is hoping Rossi is the real deal and develops quickly.

I suggest we get every injured star player we can find, put them on LTIR for the season, and then play them in the playoffs.

Don't believe any of the Flyers recent 1st-round picks can really be considered reaches. Sanheim, Morin and JOB were all taken in a realistic range.

Mark Jankowski... now that was a reach.

- Tomahawk

morin was a reach should have let montreal pick him

He wants out of St Louis in the worst way. He hasnt played much hockey over the last 3 years. My guess is he will pretty much accept a trade to anyone at this point in time. So it is real impressive he will accept a trade to the flyers. Go flyers.

Do you have 100% confirmation on this or just speculation?

He has a 10 team NMC so it is refreshing to have people proven wrong once again about Philly not being a place players would like to play for.

Bruins and Rangers could absorb his salary without having to give up anything substantial.

given the fact he'll accept a trade to the flyers means he hasn't been doing much with hockey the last 3 years so it scares me

Let me know when it happens. Also get back to me after free agency when a "needle" mover signs. Results matter.

How reputable is that source?

That would be my guess too. I saw good 2 way effort from him last year. He finished +2. I think he can still produce 30+ goals on a top line. He was on pace for about 25 goals and 56 points, not far from career highs.

And yes, trading him for picks/prospects would be a good idea if Seattle wants to reach floor and yet commit to youth.

Would JVR + this year 1st + say Myers for Seattle's 2nd be a feasible trade?

THEY HAVE NO GOOD D PROSPECTS LOL. Their good prospects are Cody Glass and Peyton Krebs. Both forwards. The D prospects is a bunch of players that have the potential of being maybe a top 4 dman if they develop well.

So your offer is Coots for 29th overall (lol at arguing thats not a late pick) a d prospect that does not have much value because they don't have any, and Alex Tuch who averages about .5 points per game the last 2 seasons. Their best d prospect is between Nikolas Hague who was shuffling back and forth between AHL and NHL (38 NHL games so still considered a prospect) and Dylan Coghlan who is a 22 year old undrafted player. Maybe the good d prospect you are thinking of is Kaeden Korczak who is a 2nd rounder from a few years ago and not really lighting anything up or showing he has potential to be anything more than a 3rd pair d.

SWEET offer! So enticing!!

- Richieattack18

Now you’re talking. I didn’t know what d prospects they have. That’s why I said a top d prospect. Ok they don’t have any scratch that and add another piece. And again with tuch. He’s been in league what 4 years ? He just started to play more important minutes in Vegas. He will break out soon. There’s a reason he was drafted 4th overall. On Philly he’d be top pp and top 6 minutes. He was on pace for 30 goals this year. If you think he’s blah that’s fine. I think he’s gonna be a stud very shortly
