I am curious to why he would be upset.. unless there is zero communication from the team and his agent... Why would Florida not wait until after the expansion draft? It's just one more guy they have to protect. I feel like everyone is going to wait on UFA's until after the 21st... it would be absurd to not wait. .. unless u just don't have a lot of guys u need to protect.

He's negotiating through the media. I'd be floored if he ended up anywhere but Colorado.

I would be happier if we signed Suter than if we signed Parise. Especially if we move Leddy.
- niteislander

As would I.

I was reading a piece from the Blues writer from the Athletic last night about Tarasenko. Pretty much recanted his previous article where he speculated that Dobson would be the ask for Tarasenko (which is hilariously unrealistic) and said that the more realistic offer from the Isles would be Leddy, which would be interesting. Still don't love the idea of Tarasenko, but it seems that the Blues are happy to provide his medical records so if the doctors from a whole bunch of teams think he's reasonably healed then I'd have to trust that.

Hearing Taylor Hall return to #NHLBruins is moving in that direction.

That actually makes a lot of sense to me... I think I would ratheer Tarasenko than Parise, but I would imagine that would mean they are really expecting Eberle to be taken in the expansion draft (if they actually expose him).

Tarasenko is only 29 and if his health is no longer an issue he is certainly an elite talent in the NHL. I would actually be very happy with a Leddy for Tarasenko trade.

Only problem is that the Blues are reasonably deep on the left side.

This was right from the article:

The Islanders are a potential landing spot, but instead of Dobson, 21, GM Lou Lamoriello may be more apt to deal Nick Leddy.

The 30-year-old Leddy is a left-shot defenseman who plays on the second pair and will be in the final year of a seven-year, $38.5 million ($5.5 million AAV). He could help the Blues, but they currently have a glut of left-side defensemen with Torey Krug, Marco Scandella, Vince Dunn, Niko Mikkola and Jake Walman, as well as Scott Perunovich, who is left shot but played on the right side at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Although it does sound like Dunn is on the outs with the organization. But I'd say Leddy is more valuable than every defenseman on that list, save for Krug.

I’d say you are correct.

Tarasenko (if healthy) would be a huge boost for PP1.

Problem is just having to choose who to protect. I wouldn't be surprised (and yes, it's already been talked about) to see Lou try and swing a deal for Tarasenko and Dunn. Then you have your Leddy replacement and an Eberle replacement.

Tarasenko has worse shoulder problems than Dehann. Dont see anyone taking him.

Once anyone hurts there shoulder that's it. My dad hurt his shoulder when he was a teenager and to this date it still hurts. He had surgery after surgery.

Devils have acquired Ryan Graves from Colorado. The cost, Mikhail Maltsev and a second round pick.

Did the Rangers buy out Tony D'Angelo yet? I would love if the Isles lose Leddy for them to grab him... I feel like he was run out of town more for his politics than anything else and it would be a riot having him on the Isles.

That was a great trade for them. Graves is often overlooked like Pelech is. Not flashy but he's a steady defensive presence.

No reason for them to buy him out before the expansion draft. That'll come later, assuming Seattle doesn't select him.

Also, pass...for us.

so in reading the expansion rules below.... The Isles may have to leave Leddy on the team exposed b/c none of the other D-men would fit those requirements.. Aho has not played enough NHL games, and Greene not under contract.

In addition, all NHL teams must meet the following minimum requirements regarding players exposed for selection in the draft:

* One defenseman who is a) under contract in 2021-22 and b) played in at least 40 NHL games the prior season or played in at least 70 NHL games in the prior two seasons.

Two forwards who are a) under contract in 2021-22 and b) played at least 40 NHL games the prior season or played in at least 70 NHL games in the prior two seasons.

* One goalie who is under contract in 2021-22 or will be a restricted free agent at the end of his current contract immediately prior to 2021-22. If a team elects to make a restricted free agent goalie available to meet this requirement, that goalie must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the team's protected list.

* Players with potential career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games (or who otherwise have been confirmed to have a career-threatening injury) may not be used to satisfy a team's player exposure requirements unless approval is received from the NHL. Such players also may be deemed exempt from selection.

Islanders will easily meet the forward requirement. Martin/Clutterbuck/possibly Eberle/Komarov all meet the requirements

Boychuk also meets the defenseman requirement...barely, but he does

How? He hasn't played 40 games last year. He only played 64 games in 2019/20 but more importantly he falls into this category.

I forgot about the games played requirement, but I'm pretty sure the "missing 60 consecutive games" part only applies to regular season games and he's only missed 56 consecutive games...the length of this past season.

I'm sure they're well aware of having to have someone to expose and are going to handle it. Wouldn't be surprised to see Greene sign another 1yr deal before the draft.

would be funny if he did and they took him.. Does Seattle HAVE to take a player from each team like this article says? Thought they Could.. but didn't have to.
