How in the world does those buyouts show you its easy to move Jake..If anything it shows you how impossible its going to be without some serious salary retention.
- hfc355

Gonna be lots of moves.
Salary retention probably the way to go.
Trading jakes bad contracts for another bad contract doesn’t do much. Keeping jakes bad contract doesn’t do much. Status quo. At least moving his contract while obviously NOT ideal with salary retention is the probably the best of the crappy options. Horrible spot to be in but this team takes into this position over and over.

They only bought out suter to protect another d in Ed. Don’t think it was a knock on suter. Just not giving up the youth. Unlike philly who prefers the older players appearantly

Like who? Braun is now the oldest player at 34 and we only have 9 players over 25 signed. Only 4 over 30

Well by even considering resigning g and coots we’re gonna lose younger players. We have a lot of contracts coming up in the next few years. Can’t pay everyone. 4 players over 30 now. If coots signed and g what we gonna have? 5?6? There’s a place for SOME older players but can’t have too many as they tend to be paid either more or more than they bring worth in value. It’s a young mans game now

I wouldn't call 55+ old as (frank). Showing his age: cranky, deeply forgetful, frequently loses track of simple lines of logic like a cat chasing a ball of twine, sure.

But "old as (frank)" is too harsh., man.

Honestly the way the league is going younger and younger I can see players age 30-34 as complete end of career. Sort of like 34-38 is really pushing it now. And in past. We see even less prominent rolls now for players age 34-38 ish than even 5 years ago

Players prime used to be that 27/28-32/33 age. It’s now really 26/27-30/31 range.

poop the way league going and players getting paid earlier in contracts the prime is gone be 23/24-27/28 pretty soon and out of league by 30-34 maybe more like 30-32.

I know this doesn’t fit the flyers narrative. I mean sign 30 year old coots. Keep Jake because unfair return or cap retention or extend g because he’s been a great warrior. So I must be off my rocker.

I mean Nevermind all these young stars in the league driving revenue and play. Or laughable I know winning Stanley cups. With younger rosters. Crazy the swami is.

Guerin takes less than a year to rip the band-aid off a floundering franchise. Must be nice.

Kinda reminds the swami of coming back from lockout season and all these teams going to smaller skilled fast players while one dumb ass team went big and slow and tough. And got smoked. Yeah philly always slow to see trends and react let alone be proactive. Sadly many in the fan base drinks it right up. Laughable actually. No literally actually by outside media and fans alike.

Oh real nice. It will be great for them having the seasons after the upcoming season and having dead cap totals of 13+M, 14+M and again 14+M. Should work out real well for them.

He also has a farm system and good young players. Much easier to do if not building from scratch like we had too but yes guerin seems to be executing a plan. Time will tell how it goes

A necessary change. The team was headed nowhere with them. With their scouts and farm system they’ll survive it.

Actually pretty stupid in my opinion. They're still headed no where and if the cap stays flat, they're screwed. The really did this for the expansion draft it looks like and they would've been much better off making a deal with Seattle and letting the contracts ride out.

50 million in dead salary over the next 6 years? This is nice?

They are starting a rebuild, my man even if he doesn't say so.

The amount of dead cap space ensures they cannot be competitive. Its just 3 years. Three years of piling up prospects, hiring a guy with a great scouting rep, and loading bullets for the future.

It is fairly clear he did not want to part with youth.

Also compare their roster to the Flyers roster. It's a disaster here but wonderful in Minny apparently. Must be nice.

No, it's not just 3 years. The large dead cap space starts after this upcoming season in 22/23. The did it in part to keep Dumba who is 26. When the 4 years are up, he's 30.

Nah man, they should’ve rode it out with them like G and Jake. Year 13. That’s when the 2nd round series wins start rolling in.

You read my mind, thanks. The bulk of the dead salary, almost 47 million is over the next 4 years. That’s a lot to save Dumba, lol.

Giroux and Voracek are still solid players. Both Suter and Parise are both considerably older than Giroux and Voracek. So if the Flyers did this and bought them out, you'd be okay with the dead cap space and sitting patiently for the next 4-5 years?

And indeed, your mind drips acute insight.

Sure, the dude spent 47 million all in order to not expose a non-elite D-man. Nice read.

I shouldn't even have to post this, but oh well.

"“With all due respect, the Minnesota teams (of the past) they’ve been good teams it’s just been a bit of a struggle to get a little further in the playoffs, so my job is to try to make the team better and sometimes change is good and a lot of times it’s necessary,” Guerin said during an appearance on Hockey Central. “I’ve been trying not just to make my mark but to make some improvements. I’ve got a group of guys that I work with on a daily basis that help me and we (make) educated decisions. We’ve got a great pro scouting staff and a lot of great advice. We’re trying.”

Yes your right… coots for mcdavid. My bad. Is that better. Did you wake up yet? Please do tell what you think a player with 1 year remaining on contract that will turn 30 and want his big term big $ career contract will fetch you?

What would philly trade to acquire this type player ? Schwartz mentioned to day… he’s a top line winger age 29.

Would you give up tk / 1st round pick/ and top d prospect for Schwartz so you can sign him big $ well into his mid to late 30’s ?

No? Exactly! Sho sho little fly

- Stayin alive

Bruh. The dude won a selke 2 seasons ago and arguably the best player on our team and you want to give him away for a late late late 1st rounder, a d prospect, and a WINGER that barely has 50 points in his last 100 games. Are you delusional or are you actually trolling
