Haha Swami (I mean “Bee Gees fan”) has shown to be nothing but a moron. I haven’t read a single sentence that makes logical sense let alone his god awful trade proposals. - Oberyn23
And let me guess there’s not 1 trade proposal I’ve posted that you can show is god awful. I mean your free to disagree with the thought of the trade or the direction it leads the team but god awful? I mean where’s the hagg for mcdavid proposal from me. Give me just one example? Yeah didn’t think so. Oh let me guess you’re one of the homers thinking signing coots and paying him 8-9 mil a year until he’s 38 is smart. All while mocking and laughing at teams like Buffalo for signing skinner to big long term contract right. Yep. I see sho sho little fly |

Yes none of my trade proposals would be logical to a dumb ass flyers fan base who think their players are the best. Funny I put same trade proposal on other teams blog and they turn it down because it’s way over payment for philly players. Laughable. Sorry I don’t post trade proposal or thoughts based on non realistic dreamland. - Stayin alive
Do you wonder why you are the only one that thinks your trade proposals aren't complete trolls? You have no grip on reality and player value whatsoever. #1 centers do not grow on trees, especially not shut down centers that score between 30-35 goals per season. |

The chances of suter getting picked by Seattle if he waived were very slim. So in the slim chance he did they would have worked out a deal not to take him.
That being said It is clear as day Guerin wanted both off the team for whatever reason. So no the ED was not absolutely part of the reason. - hello it's me 2050
The reasons are clear though indirect: Wants to reset trajectory. Having two old superstars around while you are going youth muddles the message.
Plus, Suter is still a good player. And Parise was on 60 point odd pace season before last. Removing them will hurt the team in the short run. So will the cap hit.
Then there is the revamping of Scouting. Guerin cannot be unaware that these handicaps improve position in draft.
There is a code in sports management of never publicly admitting you are looking to the future. Just like Doug Pederson will always say he never yanked Hurts except for giving Sudfeld a chance, laughable though it might sound.
Guerin is revamping. Dumba is only tangentially related to it. |

I said everything your suggesting…but…I have never said the Flyers should enter a rebuild…..as an simple example….a couple years back Montreal moved a former Norris trophy winner….their best forward and captain and a high draft pick defenceman….two of the three worked….one not so much. My point is it wasn’t a rebuild, it was a change to the mix. Two of the three were from the veteran core. They saw the core wasn’t going to win the wawas constructed….They were hockey trades, they traded good players and got good players back. Because a couple of deals won’t necessarily move the needle shouldn’t be a reason for inactivity or another rebuild. - landros 2
Sure. How did Montreal end up faring in the SCF? After watching the games, can you truthfully say they has as good a chance as any?

I have to agree with mjl. I think it’s obvious the Ed played at least a small part in decision. It’s only logical. Maybe not even more than a second thought but there had to be at least some thought and discussion and therefore part of it |

Of course it played a part. How could it not? That part was not however the driving part. |

So would they have been better off not making those deals? And if so is your reason simply cause the got beat by a superior team ? They beat 3 really good teams….teams better then the Flyers to get to TBay. The Habs for all their faults have made moves, substantial core moves for the better. The guys they traded didn’t suck…they just didn’t fit. |

Oh I love it. I have no grip on reality you say
How many 1c grow on trees? I’ll tell you 32. 1 per team. And where does coot rank among them? Middle of the pack that’s where.
Coots scores 30-35 goals a season? Really since when ? How many years in the league? How many times has he scored 30-35 goals in a season? He’s been in league 10 years and twice scored above 30 goals. 31-33 respectively 3-4 YEARS AGO. Career high 76 point season.
Yes clearly surely my grip on reality is wrong and I have no reality of player value.
I see why you say I’m the only one who thinks my proposals are trolling.
Like I said the typical philly fan. And that’s not meant to be a troll or mean or negative. Don’t believe me though I wouldn’t want anyone to. Do your research. Look up your golden boy you think is great. Compare him to other 1c on the league.
This will be the difficult part, once you see what OTHER 1c are doing look at their ages and contracts and think about what a 30year old coots going to get and the production you’ll get. And try to project that out over the life of the deal.
Then relook at some of my trade proposals. You’ll be wishing philly made one of them.
Or don’t and believe coots is some great 1c that’s gonna get you some consistent selke play and 30-35 goals a year. |

If there was no expansion and hence no expansion draft, Guerin would not have bought them out at this point in time.

Yes we can in a casual sports conversation. Which is how sports fans on a hockey message board talk using idioms and clichés. Rather than looking at irrelevant odds in Vegas or statistical formulas. |

What the hell happened to this board? It is toxic in here. We are talking about a sports team. My life continues as normal whether they win the Cup or finish in dead last. It’s supposed to be fun.
Some spend the entire day arguing in here. It might be good to spend some time away.

Yes surely that’s what my poor attempt at pot stirring and poor attempt at humor was.
Since you’ve read it all you would know I was teasing at the alumni team and making deal of alumni games in general. I fully admit it was bad humor poorly thought out and I tried to make amends for it.
If you followed me you’d know that I’ve been to alumni games and I would’ve loved to go to that game. And I would’ve traveled 6 hours to attend but unfortunately it was the same weekend as my sons high school graduation.
You’d also known that I made an online donation.
If you follow my comments you’d also know my own daughter was in the us army stationed in a South Korea and also stateside and is now a retired veteran.
My poor attempt at humor was clearly not heated in anyway toward the vets playing in the game.
As far as other culture what do you mean? The occasional comment when thread leans toward social issues? What culture do you speak of? I mean I’m democratic socialist progressive so if culture you’re talking about status quo in the USA sorry but I don’t apologize so stating an opinion on those matters.
If it’s culture as o offended you or anyone regarding our vets I truly apologize and as you can see it wouldn’t make sense for me to take a stance against vets. I actually think it a disgrace not only how vets are treated in this country but also active members of the armed forces |

Arguing and debating about hockey is perfectly appropriate. Getting personal and making personal comments to someone is not. The other day you called me sick because I had an opinion on the Jones situation that you disagreed with. Is that not toxic?

Well in the last 4 years he did it twice. Last season he was on pace for around 35 goals and about 80 points. Obviously its hard to hit those numbers the last 2 years with Covid shortened seasons but you know that. Basically 3 out of last 4 seasons hes averaging between 30-35 goals if the seasons werent cut short. Better sell low on a 1C Selke winner in his prime! - Richieattack18
2 things here so we’re accurate. Then let’s see.
1) finished last season 15th in selke voting clearly not in prime or toward downward slope of prime
2) he was on pace for 27-28 goals and 34-37 assists thats 61-65 points not anywhere near 80 points
So it’s not 3/4 years it’s more like those we’re career years and the best to hope for is good defensive play somewhere around 25 goals and somewhere around 35 assists.
Sorry but not sorry that’s not some great 1c that’s middle of the pack. Remember how coots didn’t make nhl networks top 20 center list? Yeah there was a reason
for it.
Also have you notice there’s a history building with coots injury history?
Do we even dare throw in how his body is clearly starting to show the wear and tear ? |

In 20/21, Couturier scored 18 goals and 23 assists in 45 games. That translates over an 82 game season to 32 goals and 41 assists for 73 points. |

How many games were played in that season. Nice try redo your math. 56 game season. So your saying he misses 20% of games… if 3/4 years ago the team played 100 games coots would’ve been a 90 point player. YES !!! Sign him.
Yet you want no part of tarasenko because of injury history. See how you can’t do that.

And to further that even if you take out the fact he missed 20% of the games and assume he’d maintain that pace he’d still be middle of the pack at best compared to stats age pending contract |

Thomas hertl had almost same stats as coots. Plays a sound defensive game (not as good as coots) but also brings more physical game than coots. What’s hertl value? Is he not on pace with coots? |
