I don’t understand the utility of a presser at this point. CF won’t/can’t say anything without tipping his hand as to strategy, blowing potential deals and signings, or be accused of tampering. We will get all the pleasantries and platitudes we’ve grown accustomed to. Maybe substantive updates on player surgeries and some insight as to the GM meeting discussions is about the only thing he can really talk about. |

So for all the people who think that Jake can be traded, whether it is his full contract or Flyers retain some cap hit. I would really like to hear what teams you actually think would have interest in Jake. Then who do you see as a possible return. Many have said to trade him though don't offer anything other than that.
So the exercise for today is make your Jake proposals.

Maybe a vorachek for Dumba trade, add in picks to balance. Assuming Minny can send Paraise back to jersey or a buyout |

Bill, noticed you didn't have Zamula on the short list of defensive candidates for this year. I know we'll most likely have 1 rookie with York, but I think Egor can help this club this year. |

Bill,
Is there a reason the flyers didn’t wait to sign Laughton AFTER the expansion draft? Seems kind of silly to me…they gave him an extension which would force them to use one more protection spot in the expansion draft. Furthermore this makes more sense with Laughton considering he said (and actually seems like) he wanted to stay in Philly. |

The Kraken can still claim him even if he was a FA.

Well ok then…
Grew up in South Jersey in the 90s and I’ve been following the Flyers since. I live outside of the area now, but usually watch 80-90% of the games. Still play some beer league and try to skate a few times a week. Im pushing 40 and I know that I still have a legitimate shot at playing in the NHL. |

That is false. UFA's cannot be drafted in the expansion draft. However, Seattle does have a window to negotiate with UFA's before other teams can.

They could've waited with a handshake deal but I guess they didn't have another forward they were worried about protecting. |

Does anyone remember or know, do all teams post the protection list after submitting on the 17th? |

So are you saying he can’t be traded? Just seeking the offers/ thoughts? Or just looking to criticize? |

I wouldn't handicap his chances until we see what camp competition looks like, who gets hurt, etc. He looked pretty damned solid in his cup of coffee. |

It'll be a numbers game and unless he is an absolute standout, they'll want him getting bigger minutes in the AHL. Definitely could see time with significant injuries though.

The Kraken can sign him and have that count as there pick though. Of course, Laughton would have to be willing but why leave the window open for that?

I'm kinda wondering now how the league would handle any players that are listed as both D and F. Like Streit, Buff, Burns, etc when they were actively playing both.
Maybe that's one of the reasons why the Flyers wanted Morin at forward this season... in case he showed a pulse they could protect him as a F?

Loved the draft stories. Thanks
Any idea whether the Nashville press conference will involve something to do with us? |

I still believe we have an above average team but also have assets to shed. Start from the net and work your way out. |
