You Brackett cum-guzzlers like to give him credit as some super-duper scout, just who do you give him credit for scouting? - Reubenkincade
All the good picks, and none of the bad ones lol. You can't blame a simple amateur scout for the organizations poor scouting and drafting under Mike Gillis FFS...Mike Gillis was in charge and had final say, just like Jim Benning does |

I still can't believe Chuck Fletcher gave up Alex Tuch to George McPhee so Vegas would take Haula. George McPhee is a God damn genius!! |

With Minnesota buying out both Suter and Parise, there are now only five (5) active contracts remaining that qualify for a recapture penalty IF the player were to retire before his contract was up.
Sidney Crosby
Jeff Carter (final year)
Duncan Keith
Jonathan Quick
Shea Weber |

Brackett is the most overrated scout ever.
Although, he is good at drafting American kids who are clueless when it comes to playing defense ie; Jordan Schroeder, Adam Gaudette, Brock Boeser(who is only just learning). Then you have the Joe Labate types. Ya, Great scout.

All of them still playing fairly well, Crosby is still one of the better players in the league. |

I never mentioned Mike Gillis, and I agree, Brackett is a simple amateur scout. |

You listed off a bunch of picks in the Mike Gillis era, did you not? And then blamed him for the poor picks in that era. He was simply an amateur scout back then and even in the early Benning years, he wasn't the director of amateur scouting. |

22-23: 12.74 m vs 15.08 m
23-24: 14.74 m vs 15.08 m
24-25: 14.74 m vs 15.08 m
Then the cap likely increases
I can see the logic behind suter/parise buyout

I am surprised with Sutter buyout . I think he has still been good. Parise is no surprise . I know he was a healthy scratch a few times. |

Thomas Grading and Ron Delorme and Lars Lindgren aren't director of amateur scouting either, yet we're the driving force in the scouting and selection of both Elias Petterson and Nils Hoglander.
If Brackett was in charge of scouting the American kids(he was), in his earlier days, and came up with the Schroeder and Labate etc, that he would have recommended, as it was his scouting area, then I would say he failed.
Now, I am sure one of the Brackett cum-guzzlers will say how about Demko, which all I can say is, even I wanted the kid back then, as I had read nothing but good things about him. |

I'm not saying Brackett was king sh*t but to play devils advocate - if he was in fact responsible for all the USHL picks - 5 out of 6 of them (except Madden) have played NHL games - so I mean you gotta give him credit regardless of how much #yougetwhatyoudeserve....

all i got from this is that JB's biggest strength is in his ability to provide a better structure in scouting that gives better recommendations to the gm.
so now that the structure is set up and both you and lefty agree it's the advice more than the GM that is to blame/praise for the draft, we can all agree that JB is no longer needed. bon voyage to that hapless dimwit.
i'm glad that all sides of this issue can come to an understanding. good work boys! |
