Didn’t Schmidt get suspended for 20 games for cheating (ped’s)? That’s bound to enhance your reputation among your peers. |

He was also one of the most popular players on both Washington and Vegas because of his great attitude and work ethic. I didnt hear about the PEDs, interesting! Probably did lose some respect there woth some. |

5.95 million for a #4defenseman is pretty pricey. The Habs paid a 5th for the rights to a much better defenseman in Edmundson and signed him to a much better deal.
Not sure if Canucks would have taken the Russian kid at 20th, when another defenseman in Barron was still available, at that spot. - Reubenkincade
I agree, it is a little high. But Covid has changed contracts and the landscape for the league as well. If the Cap was going up to where it was announced and we all assumed upwards from there, it is not terrible. And I still feel that if he is a goner, the return will be quite close to what we paid.
So take a risk,
Its a win = Yay!
Lose the bet but come out with a push = no biggy
Outright lose and get nothing back = not ideal for sure, but it was a 3rd. |

Much better than a broken baby who sits arpund and smokes weed all day. Off to work i go (work is a thing people do, where they exchnge labour for a salary). You can use Google for that too! |

I know google is too hard for some, heres the first Miller story that comes up https://www.espn.com/nhl/...om-swagger-coming-canucks
The word blue-collared often comes up in his stories, by actual credible journalist. Not internet crybabies. - neem55
I didn't see anything about how he is respected in the league. Basically, that article had Miller and Green making some comments, not any players from his former teams.
Almost sounds like he was upset when Tampa told him he would be on the 3rd line. |

Who was the ballplayer that said his trainer rubbed it on his knee for an injury? That is the story Schmidty is sticking to .

He pouted. He also pouted in New York when he wasn't on the 1st line. |

Look at it from a different angle besides some peoples assumptions that he is a pouter,
Asset management.
JB if he wanted, should (ya I know) get more for Miller than what was paid.
So its a win... |

That is what it sounds like.
Not sure how he can be labeled as being respected in the league. |

I understand both sides of the argument, but if you are trying to be a rebuilding team, why wouldn't you want to keep your 1st and add another pick, earlier into your prospect pool?
I know Elias had said he wanted another winger, so Benning went out and got Miller, but, was the timing right? |

I wonder how this scenario would play out.
TB exposes McDonagh and Seattle takes him, then we trade Schmidt for either Palat or Gourde and Foote. They gain 6m in space and still have a solid leagues best top 4. |

No.
but as c-genic said, he still has value and probably more than he started with so i will give JB the win on this so long as he either a) re-signs him; or b) trades him prior to him becoming a UFA.
to re-iterate (and not for you specifically) i didn't like the trade because i didn't think the team was ready to compete so that if JTM plays well here, he'll effectively price himself out of this market when they're able to take the next step.
