I thought all the retreads go to the Athletic - Reubenkincade

Two of the more respected players in the league on the team. Miller, who has a reputation as a no-nonsense worker. Schmidt a players-player, loved by teammates because of his attitude and commitment. Ive never heard one journalist or credible source claim they pouted, just a broken loser who might have smoked too much weed for his brain to be functional. You calling anyone a whiner is ironic, crywood. - neem55

I don't see either trade as a win. Benning had 2 teams with huge cap issues bend him over. One was absolutely miserable last season and the other wanted out before his first season here was finished.
Wasn't Miller the one crying about Markstrom & Tanev not being re-signed? - Marwood
Your definition of being bent over is a little more lax than mine...
A 3rd for Schmidt is a good gamble. Getting a # 4 dman for this price is a value pickup, but looking at it from hindsight that he wants out now ( which to my knowledge is not confirmed, sorry Dhaliwal) shouldn't change this. a 3rd rounder or some thing equal should come back if he is traded. And if not, as much as I hate to lose assets, it still was a decent bet.
And once again JTM...
19-20 69 games 72 points
20-21 Covid Crazy year without Petey and playing C 53 games 46 points
for
Marek Mazanec, round 3 pick in the 2019 draft (Hugo Alnefelt) and round 1 pick in the 2020 draft (Shakir Mukhamadullin)
And I know that's a hindsight view as well but, I would do this deal... |

Drance - VANTEL
Speaking of Drance, here is a comment he made
: “With the lack of cap space in the system, the brutal decisions facing teams and the completely unique considerations that will shape offseason moves over the next month; you won’t convince me that the flat cap era shouldn’t have come attached to at least one compliance buyout.”
I say, to bad for the teams in cap trouble, they wanted this BS cap system, they can live with it.
They, the owners, should have been reeling in their GMs, if they were so concerned about the ridiculous contracts that they let their GM's sign. |

Not at his cap hit, IMO.
I think JTM shows up when he feels like it(when it benefits him). The trade was unnecessary and too costly.

Me too. It just perpetuates the ongoing stupidity of some of the GM's in this league.

I am fine with the flat cap no compliance buy out. It has only begun and look how much fun/havoc it has created.
I don't follow Drance at all. The only time I see what he says is when someone here posts something. I have no interest in the sh1t he spews.

5.95 million for a #4defenseman is pretty pricey. The Habs paid a 5th for the rights to a much better defenseman in Edmundson and signed him to a much better deal.
Not sure if Canucks would have taken the Russian kid at 20th, when another defenseman in Barron was still available, at that spot. |

I was ok with the Schmidt deal for reasons mentioned.
JTM deal I was upset with at first do to all of us overvaluing picks at times, but to me the stats he has put up, and the appearance of at least a snarl on any level shows a player that cares. So... |

I follow them . I like that they only copy and paste and not add there thoughts behind it. Problem is most of the stuff by the time they report it has already been said over and over.
