Boy Bill…..a lot to unwrap here. I’m still fine in trading for Jones with out the guarantee….but yesturday it was reported his agent is talking to possible trade partners about an extension to help facilitate a trade….to me that changes everything. I hope the Flyers are included in that group. Not sure how old Friedman’s info was…but things can change with a phone call.
I’d be interested in Taresenko…but not sure Vorecek would be moved for him…

Let’s say the Flyers could trade for Ceranak ….a second round pick…maybe a b list prospect ….considering TBays situation.

They could then offer Seattle Myers as a sweetener to take Jake….before guys start yelling, it still would be better then to lose Myers for nothing….yes they could trade Myers else where, but to me the cap savings on Vorecek really would help facilitate the change the team needs. Isn’t that the whole point…having that cap space allows the Flyers to really get things done.
Bottom line is Fletch may have to get creative….the ED could very well be used as a tool.

But if we get Cernak before the ED then we couldn't protect Myers unless we go 4-4-1, which I don't think we want to do. If Myers isn't protected and Seattle wanted him, they'd just take him and leave us with Voracek.

In that scenario, the Flyers could move Myers in a separate trade ahead of the Expansion Draft. There are teams that can and would protect him. Let's say the Flyers trade Myers and Aube-Kubel (who also won't be protected) for picks from Arizona.

A lot of the deals that will be made will be agreed upon before the actual draft. In that scenario the Flyers trade Vorecek before hand for Futures… they then simply leave Myers unprotected….I’m not saying this is what I think will happen, just a way to rid themselves of the Vorecek contract….I personally think it might be Matt Dumba the Flyers target as a fall back position before the ED…not sure what Minny wants…but I’m sure they don’t want to lose him for nothing.

I honestly think best way to handle Jake is to hold onto him at least one more year (assuming Seattle doesn’t take him).

I think Jake would be a good pickup for Seattle. I know I know his contract is high. But, if Seattle put him with a sniper the guy would thrive again . Go back to his days when he signed that big contract. He still gets his points. Put him on a top six with guys that love to fire the puck and this guy will thrive. Jake needs a change of scenery. This core needs to change. Window is almost shut for this group.

I’m in favorite of anything that makes this team. I would only absolutely not understand any circumstances trade Hart or Provorov.

Hard pass on Tarasenko. The flyers have no business going after a player that may have a problem staying in the lineup.

Not surprisingly winning teams like the Bruins, Caps and Islanders are showing interest in Tarasenko https://www.stltoday.com/...5e-9df7-612f9880f8ab.html.

Caps are a surprising addition here. They’re wondering how to fit Oshie in the mix as it is because Ovie needs a deal. He may even be exposed.

Maybe if they rid themselves of Oshie and/or Kuznetsov

Status quo. Sure he will have a good season and we just miss playoffs or worse get bounced first round. Middle of the pact. Should be exciting

Maybe it’s me, but when I think of the Flyers core, I don’t think of the same players as you. Core, to me, are the likes of Coots, Farabee, Konecny, Provy, Hart, etc.

Guys like Voracek and G are now the prior regime who are hanging on to help. Of course, you need guys like that, but they aren’t the foundation anymore.

Jake is good enough to get the C for Kraken
And I m sure he would love it in Seattle
After all he is a fisherman at heart

He really wouldn’t be a bad fit. They can plan on taking a couple of cap hits, especially for proven vets.

And Jake will still contribute for them. Maybe they’ll even get him a sniper to play with.

Seattle could certainly do worse. It’ll be interesting.

I like Jake. I really do. However, much like the Flyers, that cap space should probably go towards a younger defenseman or a scorer, and someone in their 20s. Not to mention we could use the money to pay players already tabbed as our future.

Totally agree but it is not only cap space issue it is simple the fact team and dynamic
what changed between Giroux / Voracek .The combination is not working
Giroux is simple not a Topline center anymore
He is just a legit Top 6 winger and even in that role rather with growing inconsistency

I mean what do you guys see in Voracek? I see a player who has been payed and treated as a franchise cornerstone piece to a team in which he has fallen drastically short of meeting those expectations. A player you expect to count on to carry the team when needed and lead by example yet I watch a player who consistently makes bad decision after bad decision on the ice and has gotten away with it for the better part of his career here. Off the ice, a player who’s ego is so fragile he threatens reporters and people on the internet who criticize or say negative things about him. This is the guy you want to build your team around? This is the guy you want to help mold the younger players? Every time I watch him throw a blind pass across the middle of the ice that gets intercepted, or turn the puck over in transition at the blue line, or not back check while his man comes down the ice and scores, or watch him pass up wide open nets for one timers to make an extra errant pass I just can’t help but think he gets away with all of this and it rubs off on the younger players. Granted Vingeualt finally held him accountable but he is who he is and if you have a chance to move him I think the benefits go beyond salary.

Interesting that people are hesitant to remove him from this team. I would in a heart beat.

It isn't all about the points he produces. Which haven't got the flyers anywhere anyway. You can replace Jake with someone who offers a diff skillset. Someone who has a diff attitude. Someone who give the team a diff look. The goal is to become a better team. You can get rid of Jake and accomplish that. My own opinion is I do not see an contending teams having interest in him as others see much more than us fans. Not sure Seattle wants a whiny vet like him when building a new team.
