Problem is, is that Zuck won't take Guentz spot so there's that. Guentz/Sid/? and ?/Geno/Kap should be the starting point for our top 6. We currently have McCann, Rust and Zuck to fill in the top 9. McCann either goes with Geno or Carter and Rust goes with Sid or Carter. And I'd find Zuck a new home. - 668710
Just to be clear, I wasn't advocating for keeping Zucker. I do think he'll have a better year next year and Kapanen will have a worse one. Regression to career norms for both.
I think the Pens may end up looking stupid if they give Zucker away for nothing, but they don't really have many options to move cap space and have other needs so they have to do it. |

The Pens certainly not the only team in the position to give away good players for nothing just to free up space. I don't think they'll look dumb. So many teams will be scrambling to deal with the flat cap now being longer term.

Are we suggesting Seattle takes Blueger or Reese and not Zucker? |

What if they do? A lot of people seem to think he stinks but Seattle will happily take his 5.5M cap hit. |

I am wondering what Hextall is going to do. He has kept quiet to all the media outlets. He seemed quiet even when it came to acquiring Carter. I wonder if he goes after Getzlaf if Bluegar is taken in the draft. Or if he is very active at all in free agency this offseason.
We are all use to the JR trade 75 times to get the proper pieces to fit. It seems Hextall has a keep everything the same and make a few tweaks here and their. It should be interesting. |

It’s all going to come down to center vs left wing options for Seattle in terms of Zucker vs Blueger. |

And whether or not we trade anyone before the expansion draft.
I have no idea what Zucker's trade value would be right now. But if he's not traded, I would rather Seattle take Zucker then Blueger....and then aggressively go after Saad or Coleman.
In an ideal world, Seattle takes ZAR or Pettersson. |

I'm hoping they do take Zucker. I like our 4th line and I don't think Zucker stinks, I don't think he's a good fit. That or take one of our poopty defensive players.. |

Having 12m tied up in Petts, Matheson, and Tanev is the biggest issue. - Feds91Stammer
Id add Zucker into that mix as well. |

Yeah but he wouldn’t be a problem with the other bad contracts gone. |

I mean he hasn't been that good here though. And honestly he hasn't been that great ever since his leg injury. I'd rather get a trade out of him if possible rather than going to Seattle for free, unless it opens up the possibility of landing Saad. |

That might be likely. I get the feeling from listening to national types that Pettersson has a better reputation nationally then he does locally and his analytics have always been very good. |

That sort of feeds into the argument that maybe Seattle doesn't take Zucker though, doesn't it? |

Could be, you never know maybe his name gets him there. Sure they may have a strong analytics team but they will definitely grab some names to get people attracted to the team. Not saying Zucker is a huge name but it's known enough. |

If the bar is 40 points I feel safe, but I like him more than most and just think he had a bad year and no chemistry with Malkin. - Tojo.
I still like Zucker. I think his bad year was somewhat circumstantial. Malkin struggled early. By the time he got into shape, Zucker f'd up his leg. Then Malkin got hurt and never truly got back to peak form. With both guys getting dinged this season, I think they were doomed from the get go.
However, If I were Sullivan, I would have tried Sid and Zucker at some point. Dude is too stubborn. Sets his lines and never experiments when things go stale. |

If anything we need to be shedding wingers, especially ones making big coin to play the Sully smurf super skater system. Need some cheap grinders who bang and play fast and hard. Rust, Kapanen, McCann, ZAR and Zucker are some who may need dumped into the recycling bin to take advantage of the flat cap (along with whatever overpaid GMJR wrecks on the blueline we can get someone to take.) |
