Thanks Carol,
Now that the cup has been awarded, how long til Benning announces that he’s acquired Duncan Keith and a 4th for Schmidt? |

It would be just like when the Canucks bought out Spooner, the Rangers had to puck up the cost of whatever the retained salary in percentage is.

Speaking of Duncan Keith, because he has one of those Uber long back diving contracts, if the Canucks acquired him, and then he retired after one season, I think they get extra cap space, while Chicago would get hit with a $4m penalty or whatever. |

Keep an eye also on buyouts. Dallas picked up a nice buy out Corey Perry really cheap been to the cup twice since then.
I know Neal is going to get bought out and Jim should jump on him for one year as a fourth line player 900 K to 1 mi - VANTEL

He will probably work with the twins and show the young guys what it takes to be a pro. |

The funny part is, I basically said what Reuby did. That the buyout for OEL would not effect ARZ unless they retained salary. I guess he misunderstood my post

He'd basically be a PP specialist, I guess that would be a unique approach if the Canucks are committed to running 3 balanced lines. Give less ice time to the 4th line and have 3 specialists. Maybe a fighter, a PP guy, and a PK/face ace who play very limited 5v5 |

UFA Travis Hamonic agent Kevin Epp : It is quiet in terms of contract talk, Travis enjoyed Vancouver a lot and likes the coaching staff. We will see how it plays out.
Benning already sleep for free agency season? Has he run out of time?
That's too bad, wouldn't mind Hamonic to come back. |

Dim Jim is obviously hard at work trying to extend franchise cornerstone Brandon Sutter. |

Barclay Goodrow -- Yanni Gourde -- Blake Coleman
6'2" 203 --- 5'9" 173 --- 5'11" 207
3LC next season for Van. Yanni Gourde. A 3rd and a 4th. Little less then LA paid for Arvidsson because higher cap and 1 year older. |

Hamonic back would be good. Bargain Dman compared to what the Flames are paying Tanev now lol. Better version of Tanev and much better value. |

Saw a tweet the other day that said Gourde was a walk on try out at the Utica camp in 2017 and was among the first cuts…
Edit, maybe it was 2013 actually. |

Exactly, Hqmonic proved last year that he belongs. His stellar defensive play allowed Hughes freedom to roam and play the style that makes him that future Norris Trophy winner. The pair was the backbone of Canucks defense and with Edler on his way out, he should be a top priority signing.
Come on Jim, get er done. |

Hamonic said he wants a regular contract with term . Willing to play anywhere this year , not just west coast. He is not signing for lowball contract. Probably looking for Tanev like contract.

Jim will get a better deal than others, he’s proven this in past ufa signings. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long and he misses out on Sutter. |

It won't be in the nature of 4.5 X 4 Years like the Flames overpaid for Tanev I would think. What would you offer Hamonic to stay or we just move on? |

I just read (quickly) a thread on CDC about Gourde playing for the Kwings and getting cut from the Comets. He was an under sized over ager in the QMJHL that put up 120+ points his final season.
Water under the bridge, but I refuse to give up draft picks for a guy you already let slip through your fingers… |
