Every teams got them but Jim Benning is certainly in a league of his own, and that's not a good thing

That's the fans .

Montreal has Weber and Price on that list and I am shocked Drouin is not on there. Paul Byron was on waivers a few times this year . They let Mete ( A good young D prospect ) walk for free. Have had buyouts.

FYI : Bergevin was offered and extension by the Habs during the finals but decided to play out his current contract. Other teams have interest . Should be interesting.

The Canucks are close, they just need to rebuild the defense, put together a capable bottom six that can play in the NHL and add 2 more top 6 players.

I believe, right or wrong, that if Francesco Aquilini wasn't the owner of the Canucks, Jim Benning would've been fired by now, considering the continual poor contracts he's handed out and the poor on-ice finishes over the past seven years for a team that was trying to be competitive.

I would like to see the Canucks offer-sheet Cal Foote at 1.439 per, compensation would be nothing.
Now that would be aggressive.šŸ˜

1) why would he sign that contract?
2) why wouldnā€™t Tampa match it?

I honestly don't care one way or the other. I think it is overblown but I also think it is a distraction.

I want them to grow their own product . I don't want to search the old rehashed list. I look at Ken Holland whose name has been thrown around here before he signed with the OIL. His two signings last year were Turris who stinks and Oil fans want bought out and Barrie who Benning has had an eye on for years.

He just signed RNH for a contract of too much term and is looking into trading for Duncan Keith . Very Benning-esque moves.

1) It works best for the Canucks
2)Can Tampa afford it? I doubt they can.

But you do care, that's why you're here discussing the Canucks every day. As for Holland, he's been the GM for two years in Edmonton, Benning's been the GM in Vancouver for seven years, apples and oranges. If Holland's got as bad a track record in another four years I don't expect him to still be the GM in Edmonton.

I love the sport of hockey in general, that's why I like talking about what's going on around the league.

lol pretty sure I'll be just fine. Curious though...why are all the 'variants' named after fraternities from College Hollywood movies? Delta...Lambda...lol. Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds? Funny...

Agree I think Holland will bring Larsson back. Schmidt will be fine here if he stays. Expecting good things.

Not sure if you're being serious or not, but in case you are curious..: they're not named after college frats. Both frats and the variants are named after the Greek alphabet (even the word "alphabet" is from the Greek "alpha" and "beta", the first two letters.)

The variants used to be called Indian, British, South African, etc. as that's where they were discovered/originated, but that led to some increased hate and judgments against those countries and peoples. So, they switched them to something more neutral, the Greek alphabet. (Also, the Spanish Flu didn't originate in Spain, they just widely reported it as they didn't have news blackouts like the rest of Europe... it's thought to have potentially started in the US!)

I think they could find a way to fit that in.

Seattle will likely take McDonagh opening up a bunch of space on D.

I mean, go ahead and suggest wildly outlandish scenarios, itā€™s the HB MO

I think the Canucks should sign Landeskog to play on EP40's LW and trade JT Miller to Columbus for Boone Jenner and a 1st round pick

Someone had to start the scenarios, so I thought I would say something outlandish for the 1st time ever.

RE: Duncan Keith.
"Itā€™s believed Edmontonā€™s turned down some of the asks, such as Ethan Bear and/or Ryan McLeod."
Just a personal view: This feels like the point at which you realize Chicago's valuation on Keith is simply too high for a deal to be realistic.
