Pretty much. Whiny group cares a whole heck of lot about it and others just go with it and don't give a poop. - manvanfan
Why don’t fans look ahead instead of the rear view mirror?
What is the point in constant fear JB will screw something up?
Ppl of little faith or let it come must have a hard time enjoying anything. Tomorrow is always a new day. |

Apparently having a neutral opinion of a JB move makes you an apologist. Or not liking it, but understanding why he did it also makes you one. - Retinalz
It’s the go to to mollify JB bashers nothing more. They seek justifying their unwavering narrative that JB cannot improve. |

I don't think anyone cares if he's fired today. But some of us care more about the team finding ways to succeed then espousing a negative narrative. - NuckUp
I don't want an outside GM . I want them to hire and promote within so if he sticks around another year who GAF .

I have Edvinsson at #2. Him and Power are both going to be solid #1defensemen. |

It's a job that is evaluated on past success. Don't mean the past has to repeat itself or it has to be heard about everyday.
Told that Van fans couldn't handle a rebuild and we have seen it from many to be true. Even though those are probably the same fans that wanted one so badly.
Maybe once the team gets better they will feel better and whine less. Idk. |

Edvinsson seems a boom or bust.
Hughes seems to ride on family name.
Both are LHD which seems to always be available. I find it difficult to pick D high |

On a good team I have Powers 2nd pairing.
Edvinsson is a wild card. |

I think they will be very solid defensemen but I don't know if they have the ceilings of true #1. More like 1B. #1's but at the bottom of the #1's class. |

I was pretty neutral with Benning, up until this past off-season. As I stated a few months back, I always give the GM the benefit of the doubt for 6 years, to have their vision in place, not sure if I am blind, but I don't see a vision in place after 7 years. |

Aah Av’s traded Lindros also traded for Roy & Bourque.
Pittsburgh traded for Francis Murphy Coffey Barrasso.l etc. Tanked to luck out for Mario & Sid. No team has ever gotten that lucky. - Nighthawk
I’m not saying you can never make a trade, or sign a UFA. I’m saying that at the heart of every winning team is players that were drafted and developed by the organization. You can’t fault Pittsburgh for drafting Mario or Sid and winning multiple cups because of it. |

They will whine less. They will also be bandwagoners & be posers like the last cup run. Luvin it in the good times & shltheads when its rough. |

Yup.
They made some good additions to the coaching staff with Shaw and adding the Sedin's was a solid move, hopefully they continue on down the right path. |

I don't think you have looked at what any scout has said about these 2.
Here this is what scouts have said about the two of them
Owen Power, LHD, Michigan-Big Ten:
“He’s the safe guy for everyone in this draft. He’s going to play, he’s going to be top-four, no question in my mind. I would be surprised if in 10 years you told me he ended up the best player.”
“He’s so big, so mobile, so smart. I have a hard time imagining once an NHL coach gets their hands on him that they won’t play the poop out of him. “
“I think there’s untapped offense in his game. You look at Victor Hedman, the offense came later. I think the same could happen with Power.”
“He’s first overall. He’s a really good skater for his size, he has good skill for his size. He can make plays. He’s a good defender, you wish he had a little more hardness in him, but he will be more than a good enough defender in the NHL.”
“You don’t see guys like him too often with his combination of attributes. He may be a bit dull for a No. 1 pick, but he’s really good and unique.”
“I don’t see how he isn’t a top-pair defenseman in the NHL. Could he play a little more physical? Sure. But everything else is there. You don’t see a whole lot of first-year, draft-eligible defensemen be as good as he was in college, playing heavy minutes and doing so effectively.”
Simon Edvinsson, LHD, Frolunda-SHL: Edvinsson is a 6-foot-4 defenseman with a lot of intriguing NHL attributes who played well versus men this season in Sweden and is a potential top-10, if not top-five pick.
“His U18 tournament wasn’t amazing, and people like to tear this guy down, but a lot of what we do is about projecting the future, not the present. With his size, skating, skill, offensive instincts in five to 10 years he’s going to be at the top of an NHL lineup.”
“He’s a stud. He’s going to be a star, he has everything you want in an NHL defenseman.”
“I think he’s overrated. There’s some attractive parts about him, but neither the offense or defending are high-end.”
“He’s going to disappoint people if he goes in the top five. He’s a good player but doesn’t have the hockey sense to be a true top play driver in the NHL.”
“He’s like a gazelle on the ice. You don’t see a lot of guys who look like him with his frame, mobility and ability to maneuver in traffic. He needs a lot of time to develop and grow into his frame but he can pop.”
“I think he has the lowest ceiling among the big four defensemen (Power, Brandt Clarke, Luke Hughes and Edvinsson) but also the highest floor. I’m not sure you’re getting a lot of offense but I think he’s top-four for sure.” |

My report card on JB…
UFA’s a black hole of wasted cap that delayed many things. How much not a lot but was a drag.
Drafting he has done very well & the kids are exciting & it has to continue.
As for vision I’ll put that on FA with TL & JB trying to make it work. It was forcing a square peg into a round hole. Cause was it delayed everything & why this offseason is so crucial. Next year cap space will be the crux point of success or many years of more of frustration. |

Good moves finally! Just keep building on it. Throw it all in a blender and we'll just have to wait and see after the offseason. That's all we can do. Then we can all whine about it. |

Johnson said it’s not just pros but a lot of WHL players as well.
I’d expect to see more local WHL talent signed this offseason after the draft.

Canucks need a larger influx of undrafted free agents. |

That's just hindsight. Even if you've said it for 8 years, it's still hindsight.
Trading picks early in the rebuild? Gotta fill the age gap.
High priced/overpriced UFAs at the start of the rebuild? Gotta stay competitive. Can't show the young players a losing atmosphere.
Trading picks now? Gotta do it. Can't just draft your way to a cup.
High priced UFAs now? Just the going rate and the team needs that player.
Basically, Benning has stayed consistent with his moves. The team has stayed consistent in the standings.
The only things that have changed are the justifications by some of the fanbase (who aren't apologists so I'm told.)
