No one has ever tried to say you don't need to make trades or sign expensive free agents, what most say is get an established core of about 8 or 9 players before going all in on a 20 million dollar bottom 6 and having no dollars available to address the biggest concern, your defense.

Well I looked at St Louis , they had about 8 players they drafted (rough numbers) out of 22 . So obviously they traded for players like Schenn and ROR and a few more.

Currently Canucks had 9 people they have drafted on last years line up. So the cup should be here soon

I find that idiocy isn't relative to one fan base. It's spread across the league. I love watching the Flames and Oilers fans at work chop each other down. It's hilarious. One Flames fan even said 'I knew the Oilers would get swept' Unreal they just can't wait to pull out the 'I told you so's'.

We have Leafs and Habs fans too it's quite the dynamic. But ultimately none of them cheered for the Nucks in the 2011 cup run but we are all expected to cheer for any CDN team that makes the final. Basically...they can all go f*uck themselves.
