Not saying I am against it. Just stating the pick would have been higher... I think they could also deal JTM in his last year at TDL for what they paid, if they can't sign him. - SMP8719
Exactly .
I realized you were just pointing out the draft number.
JTM is a big asset and he is causing positive actions now as opposed to a guy like Perfetti who was drafted 10 th . Perfetti may have an impact on his team in four years but we have our pick working positively now (Miller).
I expect Miller to be moved before his contract expires so it still should have positive value.

I have been lurking here for 15 years and your level of discourse usually brings the hockey discussion down to infantile levels. You, for the most part, ruin my reading experience. Other than that I have no problems with you. - rojan61

Hindsight is the fans go to & what makes them think they are smarter than real hockey ppl.
Woulda coulda shoulda is such an easy cop out.
So no Miller trade & the fanbase already a miserable lot would embrace the rebuild & pain? Sure as feck not. Waste Bo’s years & others is the result. - Nighthawk
That's no fan base dude but haters and trolls slurping their garbage.
Any time a move is made to improve the team is a good one. |

TBL either drafted or signed undrafted players for most of their top 9, but traded for pretty much their whole D outside Hedman. - Retinalz
D is the most difficult thing to build. Many teams are in that boat. The big thing TB has is they have F’s & D & Vasy. Last team similar was the Wings. Cap era makes it more difficult to assemble all the pieces. |

I still like your idea Nylander for Juolevi
 - VANTEL
I wonder what we could pay to get Foote out of Tbay. |

How about 2 time defending cup Champs, Tampa Bay Lightning. - Reubenkincade
Can you name five teams that were built through the draft in the last 20 years that have won the cup?
If it was such a winning equation there would be a lot more than one or two teams .

Been a pretty basic concept since I started understanding the drafting process, when I was still very young, about 12, you build your core of about 8 players, through the draft.
It is a concept that has been around forever and the powerhouse teams have all done it dating back to the 70's, it is not a new concept and I sure don't understand how anyone can call it hindsight. |

I think Rathbone , simply because he doesn't need to be E draft protected and still on ELC.
I don't know how good Foote is for the NHL but he was decent in the AHL.

Maybe higher but no guarantees.
Question is is Miller a better asset now or was the pick whomever JB was to take? - Nighthawk
losing a Point per game player usually means team does worse.....

One out of 31 👍
Give any team a 2oa Hedman & that’s a great start. Team must get a 1oa Stamkos then later on suck horribly after making the playoffs to get a stud & also be lucky there is one that draft. Circumstances worked out. |

Every team who has ever won the cup has done so on the backs of their star drafted players.

Our fanbase is known as the worst for good reason. Other fanbases hate our team directly due to the fanbase.
The media has always been idiots. |

Unless we are competitive and trying to push for the cup. I doubt he stays past the next 2 seasons. |

I don’t think either 1 is a 1oa or close in a normal draft year it’s imo not a great draft year I’d pick the C. Ducks GM hung his head dropping to 3rd telling me he wanted Beniers.
If Powers were a RHD that’s a different story. He could easily be beaten out by other D in the draft as to whom turns out to be better.
I’ll go on record saying a F will end up being the best pick when time goes by. Therefore the Sabres should sell off to tank for 2022. Take Beniers & let the Kraken have Powers.
2022 draft is the draft to shoot for. - Nighthawk
I think it's not the scouts that don't know much about the prospects. It's you. |

Aah Av’s traded Lindros also traded for Roy & Bourque.
Pittsburgh traded for Francis Murphy Coffey Barrasso.l etc. Tanked to luck out for Mario & Sid. No team has ever gotten that lucky. |

We have to balance out team pom-pom and the rest of the Benning cheerleaders. - Marwood
There definetely needs balance here but it is tilted to the whinny side right now. |
