Keep in mind it would have been a better pick if we didn't have JTM. I dunno how much... but he was a big contributor. - SMP8719

Cost only a 3rd not much imo but reliant on what Schmidt is traded for or if a substantial rebound. - Nighthawk

Miller was a win. Next up for another key piece would follow that up nicely. Yes differing opinions out there for sure.
Giving up a controlled ELC pick magnifies the importance. - Nighthawk

Also same for you…
Could you be patient with the rebuild without Miller? Top 6 wingers were not very deep at all. - Nighthawk
I’ve been saying patience since the plethora of 2nd rounders started flying out the door. We’re nearly a decade in and I still want patience, just a little patience.
They’re not deep because they had no patience. |

Hindsight is the fans go to & what makes them think they are smarter than real hockey ppl.
Woulda coulda shoulda is such an easy cop out.
So no Miller trade & the fanbase already a miserable lot would embrace the rebuild & pain? Sure as feck not. Waste Bo’s years & others is the result. |

Why does every player have to be a game-changer? - Reubenkincade
Miller was & is a big help. The 20oa is only an unknown prospect.
Name a team that was built through the draft in the cap era.
Would this nutty fanbase be the usual or show patience & for how long? |

Aah ok. What would be your tune without him & waiting on the 20oa pick to develop?

What makes you think he would have been the pick that the team made and as Vintsy says, without Miller the team wouldn't have been where they were, which was an average team. |

The 20oa pick for Miller
https://www.hockeydb.com/...s/pdisplay.php?pid=225854
Is that a game changer or worth it? - Nighthawk
Realistically we don't pick top 10 without Miller that year, Marky was playing that good. So let's assume we don't win a lotto pick.
We offer Miller today for what ever kid was picked from 10oa onward that Benning would have selected, and ask for a 3rd to replace the one we paid, and that team will do it and laugh all the way to the bank.
Miller was a great acquisition and well worth what we gave up. |

Not saying I am against it. Just stating the pick would have been higher... I think they could also deal JTM in his last year at TDL for what they paid, if they can't sign him.

TBL either drafted or signed undrafted players for most of their top 9, but traded for pretty much their whole D outside Hedman. |

Did I upset you because I don't like shiny Hughes, or is it because I express my opinion openly and don't give a fuck what others think. - Reubenkincade
Since you asked.
I have been lurking here for 15 years and your level of discourse usually brings the hockey discussion down to infantile levels. You, for the most part, ruin my reading experience. Other than that I have no problems with you. |

Maybe higher but no guarantees.
Question is is Miller a better asset now or was the pick whomever JB was to take? |

No point in thinking only who WAS picked at 20.
Where the team would’ve been we’ll never know. I don’t have a crystal ball for Back to the Future lol |
