Ya true was there a few years back for a big car show and it was sketchy literally everywhere. Victoria is still beautiful outside of the downtown core but according to my cousin who has lived there forever says problems are filtering out of downtown into urban areas quite rapidly.

Nanaimo seemed to be getting pretty sketchy everywhere too. Much outside of the downtown areas and what is with that place? It's like half the folks can't even walk upright there? lol

We've been looking at retirement properties in the Courtenay/Comox regions but prices are getting high quickly. Crazy expensive to live and retire out there. But I did live in the Comox Valley for quite awhile and loved it there.

I’ve worked in Nanaimo at Malaspina and DFO fisheries station and it’s always been a poop hole.

Thank you sir.

The comments about why they think they select the player

9. Vancouver Canucks: William Eklund, LW, Djurgarden-SHL

I don’t think William Eklund will be around when Vancouver makes the ninth overall selection, but they’d be ecstatic if he was. Since the Canucks’ hold on the 9th overall pick was established at the draft lottery, we’ve been through four mock drafts at The Athletic (one from Corey, one from Scott and two including all NHL staff), and in those four mocks the Canucks have selected Mason MacTavish, Kent Johnson (x2) and now Eklund. All are great value at ninth overall if they’re still there, which just goes to illustrate that with very little separating the prospects behind Power and Beniers, the Canucks are quietly in a very enviable spot. They don’t get to pick their prospect, but they’re going to at least get the remaining member of the so-called top nine, so long as they don’t trade out of the spot (possible, but unlikely) or overthink it. -Thomas Drance

Beniers no problem still say Powers is overrated.

I think Beniers is the overrated one, Power on the other hand is going to be a true#1defenseman in this league.
Also, Power played big minutes at the World Hockey championships, finishing the tournament with 24, 28 and another 24 minute games.

Yes and no regarding filtering outside of thr downtown core. It's mainly contained to downtown (which is a complete dump now). The Neighboring districts are still clean and not overpopulated with homeless or drug addicts. Downtown Victoria is a super unfortunate sight now though.

Sounds like Hyman won't be signing with the Leaves . Sounds like maybe Seattle bound.

This is why I don't mind trading this years pick. It sounds like most really don't know a lot about this years class. (Not aimed at you)

I don’t think either 1 is a 1oa or close in a normal draft year it’s imo not a great draft year I’d pick the C. Ducks GM hung his head dropping to 3rd telling me he wanted Beniers.

If Powers were a RHD that’s a different story. He could easily be beaten out by other D in the draft as to whom turns out to be better.

I’ll go on record saying a F will end up being the best pick when time goes by. Therefore the Sabres should sell off to tank for 2022. Take Beniers & let the Kraken have Powers.

2022 draft is the draft to shoot for.

I don’t mind trading the pick but it has to be a big win. No room for error as we stand. As usual I’m waiting for the 1st domino to fall cuz so much to do & so many decisions to be made.

After watching Kucherov's presser and how Ovi partied all summer after winning the cup, I think the NHL needs more Russians in it.

Loved Kucherov trash talking the Habs fans!

With the endorsement of Benning from ownership, you should feel confident that he will make a big splash in player additions. That Schmidt trade speaks columns of what to expect.
Just give him time, he’s got this.

For the haters its to see the Canucks burn and have ownership on down gone.

For those that want to see the team succeed its to try every season to make moves to improve.

That Schmidt trade really showed me how dumb not only Benning is, but how smart this fanbase is.

Yeah, I don’t get how anyone could be upset by that. He basically said “come on”, that was the big insult.

I honestly don’t mind the Schmidt trade, still. He’s a better all around dman than Myers. I don’t think he’s an upgrade on Tanev, which is what it was sold as. If it could have been Schmidt and Tanev, they would have been in much better shape I think. Schmidt, Tanev and Hamonic would have been even better.
