Don't get me started, downtown Victoria, back in the 80's, was a great place, it's now full of human waste and garbage, businesses boarded up....it's a disgrace!!

Been trying to find comparable players to figure out what Hamonic next contract could look like.

They are just not pretty contracts.

Kris Russell 4x4 that was 4 years ago

Marco Scannella 4x3.275 signed last year

Not pretty contracts for those types of defenders.

I would like him back but I think the most I would go for him would be 3x3. NTC for the first year, 16 team NTC second year and none in the final year.

I think so, he ended up having a pretty good career, 880 games 501 points.

I'm reading that we shouldn't expect any buyouts before the expansion draft, so nothing to see there for awhile.

yup. i remember the debates around his norris contending years. the arguments being that "he's not a d-man but just a forward playing d" etc.

i've mentioned it before but i find hughes' critics to be reminiscent to those of green. i was never a fan of the rover type play of green so i'm glad that coaching changes have been made (although not to the extent that i would have liked.) hopefully, the new systems and coaches provide hughes with a structure to mature and develop defensively.

Took my kids to the royal BC museum (which we love) but made the mistake of taking them to the McDonalds (on Douglas Street I think?). Left the kids at the table while getting ketchup, a hobo approached my kids yelling "you want to see a magic trick kids?"

Needless to say it escalated quickly on my return to the table and it ended with the police dragging the hobo out of the restaurant kicking and screaming.

My eldest still talks about it seven yeas later.

Unless Travis Green completely changes his MO as far as coaching I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Forwards and defence work as a five man unit, a new defensive coach isn't going to suddenly have the "D" playing differently than what the forwards are doing.

until there is a need to spend the money i.e. deals are imminent, i don't see the benefit in executing the buyout(s) sooner than later.

i can see where it benefits the player so he can look for employment elsewhere quicker so it may buy some goodwill for the team.... but it's a buyout; the player's not going to be happy anyway so who gives a f.

i agree completely but some of these crying little b!tches would scream that it's negativity and we're not giving the new guys a chance.... so i tried to put a positive spin on my opinion that hughes might turn into a mike green.

It's funny and yet sad at the same time, we don't go downtown very much anymore because of it. When I was a teenager my mom would take me down to Paul's Motor Inn for a mushroom burger and we'd chat, now it's gone, because Lisa bought the Inn and put a bunch of homeless in there.

Now the iconic White Spot across the street has closed up shop because of issues with homeless, crime and generally no one going there because they have to deal with the homeless, they've been there forever.....sad.

So, you're hoping Shaw replaces Green as well.
Do you think it will happen before or after Christmas?

Hughes skillset is a much needed commodity, however, until the organization is purged of it's garbage management and coaching, don't expect any changes in outcome #bottom10

I was going to ask, are we playing "will the Canucks be a top 10 team this season?" again.

It's kinda fun guessing how shitty your team (former team in my case) will be next season

100% i'm not arguing against hughes' skillset; i'm just not sure in the coach's ability to maximize it within the team's structure.

And that’s why the businesses are boarded up.

This is my worry. Their games are similar in style but at a similar age Green had something like 100+ blocked shots and 80+ hits.

Hughes has 40+ blocked shots and 10+ hits.

I got a feeling his development will be a hot button topic around these parts for years to come.

But you'll have years and years of enjoyment out of it. I know people who spend that kind of money on dinner and drinks at a restaurant.

Read a great article on how to care for your BBQ and they suggest never use a cover that rests directly onto the BBQ as it traps moisture causing it to rust. I've had my Napoleon now for 5-6 years (charcoal), never covered, and it looks the same as the day I bought it. I just keep it under the deck's overhang and wheel it out when in use.

In the US south they use 'BBQ Shelters'.

The only issue I have with mine is the bolts become loose over time with the heating and cooling of the metal. I have to access the bolt cap nuts from the inside of the kettle which is a messy endeavor.

I think I'll just keep it in my garage and wheel it out when I use it. We don't eat out that often so spending that kind of money on a grill doesn't bother me. It's about 8-10 restaurant meals worth of spending.

I Goggled "Norris trophy winners" to see if any past winner had a similar skill set to Hughes and the very first link that popped up was Adam Fox accompanied with this picture...

Love when Google trolls.

That was some exceptional drafting by Treliving, 3rd round pick. Jim must have left his draft sheet exposed for Brad to get a peek.
