A full roster that can’t win a playoff series. What an enviable position they’re in.
- Feds91Stammer

I never said I was happy with the roster or think we are in great shape. My point was that it's stupid to compare current cap position without giving consideration to how many players are under contract.

If you look at the Pens cap for the year after it looks great until you consider you don't have Letang, Malkin, Rust or Carter under contract.

As much as I'd like Tkachuk, I'm not trading Jake for him. I'd only entertain trading Jake for a stud long term #1 goalie.

Trading Zucker and Pettersson should be the priority. Plenty of teams have open protection spots at forward/defense. Losing either guy for nothing is unacceptable IMO, especially Zucker given what we paid for him. Even if you get a weak amount of futures, the cap space and getting something outweighs getting nothing.

I'd only give Seattle something to take Matheson and even then I wouldnt give up much.

Penguins have an extra defenseman spot open. Swing a deal and bring in a legitimate guy to play with Marino. I dont want him stuck with Matheson next season. But leaves POJ in a bind if we have 3 LDs ahead of him on the depth chart.

The offense is largely fine. I think this team can stay afloat without Malkin. If you have the cap space, I'd love to go after a Hyman or Saad, but I think both guys will have better offers than what Pittsburgh can afford.

*And I remain on the "Sign Rust this offseason or trade him. You cant afford to lose him for nothing."

Guess we've officially reached the point of nothing new to talk about. Can't wait for the 2 week off-season blitz.

Here's my wish list before it starts. Interested in anyone else's.

1 or at least 1B goalie

Top 6 PF. I'd prefer a RW and push Rust back with Malkin and Kapanen to 3rd line as a depth move

4-5 RHD. Preferably with some size. A LHD might be better if they move both Matheson and Pettersson, but I'm not expecting that.

Depth center to fill in on bottom 6 while Malkin is out.

I'm saving cap going cheap on LW to make other moves happen. Gamble, yes, but I feel it's a bigger one going cheap at goalie or 5D. I like McCann for a bigger role and to take some of the defensive responsibilities from Malkin who isn't getting younger or healthier.

Of the 2, I'd rather keep Pettersson who is much better than Matheson with Marino and better then a lot of people think (only starting defenseman with positive xGF). Moving both may be more ideal.

At some point perhaps, but he still excels there and isn't coming back mid season from knee surgery.

Yup. He needs his newest version of Dupuis or if possible, a Hossa lol. Jake is great, but Phil might be a better defensively.

Guentzel for M.Tkachuk.

A Recchi for Tocchet type of deal.

I'd entertain it.

Considering STL needs to move Dunn because of their silly dman situation, I don't think this makes sense unless they want to trade for a dman they don't mind losing.

Agree except for switching Kap and Rust. I wanna see more of Geno/Kap together. And I think Friedman will get a shot on the third pair. And the players I'd like to move are...Zucker, Matheson, Pettersson and Jarry(If we can package him in the deal for say Gibson)

So there’s a UFA LW that could really help Sid out.

That's why I put out there Zucker/Petts for Tenk and Dunn. Then the Blues can leave one of the other dman exposed.

There's no way the Pens can afford Hall.

If there is, likelyhood of Sullivan putting him on Sid's line over Jake is pretty low.

Not that I think it will happen, but the other part of Jake v Tkachuk is Tkachuk is a play driving beast.
