The Hawks have been trying to package Keith in a deal but there are no takers. Chicago will likely need to package him with a first round pick for a rebuilding club to take him.

Ross Gurney has done a remarkable job at driving up interest for his client in Edmonton. Its seems many fans are baffled and have forgot he is now only a fringe level defender. Better defenders can be acquired for less in the AHL and KHL.

Hopefully Holland is wise enough to avoid the ongoing maelstrom.

Let’s pretend you’re Scotty Bowman’s robotic, alien son. Most of the Chicago fandom hated you already because you’re generally bad at your job, but now you’re also in the middle of the Aldrich scandal and likely facing unemployment as a result later this summer.

Duncan Keith comes into your office and asks for a trade because he wants to be closer to his family in BC (and he really, really hates his coach, who is several years younger than him). Do you:

A) Try to not lose a trade, but help him out if you can.

or,

B) Package in your first round pick for no reason other than to satisfy Keith’s request. Keith goes on to play well for that team under a NHL-caliber coach he actually respects and in a system that makes sense against NHL talent. However, now you’re down a top 4 defenseman AND a first round pick (in the middle of your own very public rebuild) and no one understands why you went to such lengths to satisfy Keith’s trade request instead of just keeping him on your team.

What do you do?
