it's not my favorite stripe. i like the fat stripe with the pinstripe on each side. or the double stripe. even one big fat stripe. not a fan of this asymetrical stripe.

also, i really like the way this generation of mustang looks and i wonder if the stripe takes away from the shape of the car.

for me I think it's the color, I find a black one without any stripes looks nice, but for that particular color it would look nicer with the white stripe (with the fat stripe you're talking about for example)

i did see a really nice darker blue one today. like a navy blue but real metallic so it looked bright sparkly blue in the sunlight. maybe i'll get that color, sans stripe.

i get what you're saying though. if i go with one of the crazy muscle car colors (that light blue, orange, lime green, etc) then stripes are more in order.
