Yeah defense was pretty optionnal.

They earned it, beat Vegas in six. The north div wasn't as weak as people thought, its the NHL, there's so much parity that all of the divisions were pretty equal. No reason to think Veags wouldn't also be down 3-0 had they beat the Habs.
Tampa just happens to be very good and I think people didn't give the Isles enough credit for how they played, myself included.

Tampa was better than Mtl games 1 and 3, Vasilevsky was better tha Price game 2 so they have every reason to be up 3-0. Not a hater by the way, just objective. Fairy tale's over.

I went in with next to no expectations. Beating the Leafs meant not having to hear about it all summer. The rest has been gravy

No where in my post did I say Tampa broke any rules? But I'm just astonished to see so many fans turning a blind eye to the reality that some markets in this league have significant competitive advantages created by a hard salary cap. And for the part of getting over it, I'm gonna get over it just fine by finding entertainment elsewhere, and I would suggest you to do the same if you want to see any changes from the NHL. Because the product as it is right now simply is not good enough to justify spending my time and my money on it, I'm just not that much into hockey to the point of accepting the situation like a good little boy. This parity garbage simply doesn't attract the viewership this sport deserves, people want to see the super teams at play and the story lines that come with it. That's what drums up drama, controversies and attracts the sponsors that funnel the money and push networks to pay big numbers for TV rights. But hey, let Gary do his little pet projects in the desert where nobody cares watching, it has done so much for the growth of the sport compared to the NFL and NBA, right?

I don't think many teams are a match for the team that's $18million over the cap. 22.5% of additional spending power would help any team out.

Kuch was clearly ready to play well before season ended, and that meant his salary should have counted against TB's cap.....but TB gamed the system, and are clearly getting away with it. When TB holds the cup up, they will have an asterisk right there with it......

My point really is about the NHL, and their failure to enforce the rules. Your post just makes it obvious teams know they can get away with it......

It's definately up hill. It's very hard to believe that they'll win 4 straight against the Bolts. I think they should've played Romanov last game, but it's easy to say that once the game is played. Game four, play Tatar if he's game ready. And get Romanov in there. GUGU is a liability. It showed they were desperate throwing him on the ice for 16 mins. He did more harm than good to be honest.
