Goaltending has been the big difference. Vasilevskiy is the undisputed best goalie in the world. Over the last five seasons and postseasons, only had one weak playoffs in 2019. Been consistently good other than that one sweep against CBJ. Having that kind of goaltending is an unfair advantage (on top of the 18% over the cap roster). - jfkst1
Boo hoo. The Habs turned every playoff game into a rugby scrum. The referees enabled it. Teams built with speed and skill excel in regular season. But fail because the game returns to a 1980’s rodeo. Now that’s an unfair advantage |

Great stuff, Karine. I just wish your day in the press gallery could have had a happier ending.
I think we're seeing the reliance on the top 4 D to handle the load AND pinch isn't working. You're right about Gustafson as well, he was brutal last night. I think the intensity, enthusiasm, and most importantly, fresh legs of Romanov would be worth the risk at this point.
In regards to bringing Tuna in, I have to disagree. As it is, Tampa is burning us HARD on turnovers. As much as Tatar brings a more offensive edge, I don't think removing Lehkonen, Armia, or Byron will be worth the defensive risk. If we want to be a touch bold, and take someone off, I say we replace them with Kulak or Gustafson on the wing, and roll 7 D, to try and stem the flow of constant turnovers by keeping the defense a bit fresher.
Let's hope we can at least get 1 win at home for the fans!
GO HABS GO! - Darksyde
They should have made some changes before, but no, running with 4 defensemen was not a good idea. I said that before. Play Romanov. Or Kulak if you really want him to go back to Russia (yeah, I know).
Tatar should have been used before, now it might be a bit late. He's not fresh. Maybe Evans. |

Wow, does your husband watch hockey? I,ve more interference from the Hans opponents than from them. You are obviously clueless about hockey. |

It would be nice to have a defensive squad not made out of 4 defensemen and 2 tourists.
I don't get what they see in Merrill and Gustafsson.

difficult to criticize them with the run they've had, but yeah, maybe they missed the boat on that one imo.

I think most teams get a little thin at the 5 & 6 spot. Tampa had Luke Schenn and Zach Bogosian in there last year, both unwanted by numerous teams.
Of course this year they are much deeper and news flash, the best team in the league. |

those two were supposed to be depth acquisitions
Now they play every game.
...and you have Romanov who is part of the future of this team, that was a regular all season, eating popcorn in the press box while watching guys that won't be here next year play in his place. |

It's unfathomable to dress 2 fringe NHLers, run your top 2 pairs into the ground just in time to play the deepest forward crop in the Final.
Sure the strategy got them there, but it would catch up to them eventually. |

I didn't have much hope going in this series, but I have to say, getting swept would be a huge disappointment.
...and yeah, they are good, but nobody is going to make me believe that playing with a 100 M$ roster isn't a huge advantage. |

not to mention Petry is injured. The guy doesn't carry the puck as much and can't shoot.
One of Bergevin's tasks this summer is to get a legit powerplay quarterback. Not some team's sloppy seconds that you get for cheap and cross your fingers he'll find that fluke scoring touch he had once. |
