Sounds like it to me. Cut the salary to the floor and sell the team. That or he needs the money to pay Allen.

That’s a perfectly reasonable trade. We get what we need to trade a star, LA gets Jack and still keeps their prize in Byfield.

Lol
I post anything like that & you’re the first one here telling me I’m gonna be disappointed with the return

has there been any rumblings on what kind of deal Dahlin is going to be getting?

Friedman says Canes and Svechnikov are looking at a bridge deal but they offered him $7.5 per for 8 years if he wants to go the long term route now.

- BINGO!

From the sounds of things an offer sheet at 5.01m on him and he's yours.

i don't know why they're waiting, i assume they were waiting to interview lambert and possibly richardson
- Michael Pachla

Part of introducing a new coach / captain is positive publicity. Aside from the other potential coaches being interviewed, the timing is really bad to make public splash. IMO

Maybe they still have eichel's ear? Probably not.

No byfield no deal Tony ☝️
- Boss34

I want Byfield too, but that might be bc I’m told he’s supposed to be so good

Turcotte seems to be on the same level as other team’s best prospects (Zegras, Boldy/Rossi, etc etc)

If Turcotte is the main piece,
AND
we get other great pieces as well….
then i think it could still be a good deal for us

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

No matter what they do or don't do, it's gotten to the point where there are some that will rip them just to rip them

I’m sure they made plenty of good investments (like most wealthy ppl I’d assume) when the bargains were to be had, that are now going up & up & up in value for them

I was able to take advantage on a much smaller scale
Hard to imagine they didn’t as well

It's because they don't want KA and Granato to have to publicly answer a zillion questions on why pierogis are the best, and why Polish pierogis are better than all the other ethnic varieties.

We’ve been the worst team in hockey over a decade.

I’m not sure my negativity needs further explanation

- sbroads24

You are a constant complainer that cheers for bad outcomes for Sabres/Bills so you can say you were right about it, but I agree with you on Granato. If they already know he is going to be the coach and don't want to announce it until the Eichel drama passes, then fine. That doesn't explain why they are still interviewing. Excellent point.

I'm now nervous Granato is going to say the hell with it and go somewhere else (the perception is he is the only one that could find any kind of life in the Sabres the last two plus years and will find work somewhere else) and we get stuck with at least 2 interviews Tocchet. Granato looks and sounds like the next Jon Cooper. Sabres better not F it up.

Nice reed,

However in MHO, Truculence is over rated in today's NHL Game. You need to put the puck in the back of the net and you do that we talent.

And Truculence you have to coach as a team game, its a buy in from top to bottom to do whatever it takes to win. Whether that is Eichel or Skinner finishing every check or Getting punched in the face, Team toughness has to be a complete buy in, an Identity.

the bruins don't have a done of heavies, but they all finish their checks and are all will to get punched in the face at any time for any reason. That is what makes teams like that hard to play against.

The Sabres do have zero of that but bringing in a few guys will not change that culture.

- hehateme

Combining the poop stirring capabilities of Jeff Skinner and Max Domi while maximizing the primary assist nature of Domi with the goal scoring of Skinner could be fun. They're both a couple of honey badgers

The defensive capabilities would be pure garbage probably but it would be watchable before Domi is flipped at the TDL.

The primary goal of that trade is to acquire Eklund for the future and give fans something to watch now

Agreed, I said this the other day.

I want no part of guys like Domi who you will either look to replace in one year or overpay and then want to upgrade from him shortly after.

If the Lightning ever end up in a spot where they actually have to trade guys the Sabres should be going after Yianni Gourde. He plays the way people think Domi does and is twice is good

- sbroads24

I was all about acquiring Laurel Gourde before his NTC kicked in. If he waived, it would be a solid acquisition

Interviewing is a learning process. Why not interview more potential coaches? Adam's can learn for the future.
I'm happy they aren't just handing it over too donnie. That shows weakness and a "whatever" attitude to me. Just get it done approach. Take your time and get it right.

The only bad reason would be if the Sabres lost donnie g.
I'm 99.9% sure that is not going to happen. Based on the fact that the Sabres themselves know him better than any other nhl team... and they aren't even sure.
Gotta think donnie likes big bucks terry....

I don't know how much better Sabres know him than other NHL teams. He spent time with the BlackHawks and has been a hockey lifer. A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week. Time is the only thing standing in the way of losing him.
