What is more gratifying than the isles winning again and again? That it is pissing off every hockey fan and analyst in the game that is not an isles fan.
- Nfdbulldawg

It's fun to piss off those who are rooting against the Isles. However, there are actually quite a few fans of other teams who have adopted the Isles for various reasons..... Some don't like the way Tampa circumvented the cap; some just like the underdog.

It would be an absolute joke if they suspended Mayfield for a cross check that we see at least 20 times a game. There wasn't even a penalty and the ref was literally 3 feet away and watching them.
- JimmyP

Well to be clear it was a cross checking penalty without a doubt but they’re not calling that in the playoffs this season 9/10. With that said I just watched it again the guy skated away from that hit fine. Went to hit Barzal. Went in awkward then left in visible pain. I’m convinced it wasn’t the mayfield hit. For the entire first period they didn’t bring up the cross check. Only rt before the intermission was it bought up by Jones 18 minutes later. It’s an absolute (frank)ing farce.

I’m telling you watch it again it’s a joke.

Generally, cross checks are only called if they are to the neck/head area, or if there are repeated cross checks--like 3 or 4 in a row--and even then they're not always called.

I watched it again last night after the game and I watched the whole game again today. I agree with you. Jones wouldn't shut the (frank) up about it so now it becomes the story. I wish Jones got pelted with a beer bottle - a full one, preferably frozen.

Yeah it’s crazy how they clearly manipulated that whole sequence and now it’s THE STORY.

The NHL network with their whining is hysterical.

I'd be shocked If Mayfield didn't have to sit out the next game.

I still say that cross check had nothing to do with Kucherov's injury. Mayfield lays two cross checks to his right hip, Kucherov skates back into the play and attempts to lay a solid hit on Barzy hitting the boards awkwardly and suddenly has a dead left arm.
He showed no ill effects until that missed hit. That whole narrative only came to be because of the NBCSN crew

I hope Montreal wins, but in game seven so there is another hockey game. Game sevens are awesome as long as your team isn't playing.

They showed it 4 times in a row between the 1st and 2nd periods tonight. No replay of him trying to run Barzal. They might be making a bigger meal out of this than Barzal’s cross check in game 5.

Mayfield has arguably been the Isles' best d-man in the playoffs. So it makes sense that anyone who wants Tampa to win would try to get him tossed for the next game.

We'll see if I make it through tomorrow. An Islander win will certainly help!
