15th overall pick already scoring big playoff goals 2 years later. Bet they're glad they didn't trade that pick for someone who could help them while Price and Weber were still in their primes.

Sorry couldn't resist. :p

- Tojo.

Not to mention they traded away their captain and best forward for a prospect (Suzuki, their #1C) who wasn't supposed to be a wild card.

Good job Habs!

That's how you rebuild. When you know you don't have it, ship off the assets for prospects and picks that will play cheap, use the capspace on guys you can pick up for free, Like Toffoli

I wouldn't say the Habs executed the blueprint perfectly, but here they are

Crazy, because they have 20 million not in the starting lineup. Tatar, Drouin, Allen and Alzners dead money

Are you vaccinated? Are you anti-vax? Anti-mask?

Why would anyone need a vaccine? China was so proactive.

They would have missed the playoffs in any other division.

They are making multiple questionable lineup decisions.

A couple injuries and a suspension in their favor against 3 teams known for choking and you can go on a run like they have.

Lol, there are a ton of things the Habs did that supposedly smart teams never do. Like spend over 13M on goal-tending.

It's funny that in Shero's tenure he had one year where he reloaded on picks and prospects. That year they got Dumoulin, Maatta, Blueger, Sundqvist, and Murray while still busting on the #8 pick.

Damn. Pretty much back to normal here. Some people CHOOSE to wear masks.

Yeah I live in DC which is as blue as you can get and masks are pretty much gone and everything’s back to full capacity.

In NJ, which I'm sure is the same everywhere, you're "advised" to wear your mask if you haven't been vaccinated, so I see people in masks and I live in one of the reddest counties in NJ.

It does have that type of feel where a Cindarella team gets to the final, then the clock strikes midnight and they get blown out in 5 or swept

In the NFL, The Patriots model was to go all in for 2 years, then for the next 2 look to stock up on picks, trade guys with value, dump dead money contracts, play young players and then repeat the process with Free Agents, trade FOR players, etc for the following 2 years

In their 20 year run they had about 5 retools that hardly anybody noticed

I'm Anti-Mask and most definitely anti restriction/lockdown, I have lots of other vaccinations, so I am not anti-vax, but I am not in a hurry to get this one

Florida has been all freedom for quite some time now. Hopefully Desantis can run for prez and knock off that dummy in office now.

I like DeSantis and obviously he has done great with Florida. I would really like to see Pompeo next up as president though. With the current geopolitical situation (and how much I'd expect it to deteriorate from here until 2024) the US is going to need him as a mad genius on international strategy. Could see Nikki Haley in the mix too.

Either way, like we see with the Liberal party in Canada, every move the democratic party keeps making is a terrible result for their country.

That’s because of vaccination rates that are higher than in most of the country. I’m just north in Montgomery County, MD where things are open as well, and we have about 65% vaccination rate (while over 70% have I at least one dose).

Bergevin was on the precipice of being fired and now looks like a genius. He has been the true GM gunslinger and while he has had some big misses, like Sergayev for Drouin (imagine if he was still playing) he has also had some monster home runs.

I'm not sure what the Pens will do but I hope they just focus on maximizing value. If you could get a Paccioretty or Staal type return for Guentzel I'd do it.

If you can get great value for Marino because of his protection status I'd do it.

If someone offers a 1st for Rust, I'd consider it.

If someone offers a bag of potatoes for Pettersson or Matheson I'd do it.

Was pulling for Vegas, but good for Montreal. Crazy, considering that they really shouldn’t even have made the playoffs. Nothing against them, its just funny. Sports are weird sometimes, n gotta take advantage of opportunities. Like bouncing the pens last year.
It was recently the 30yr anniversary of pens first cup, n I had no idea that Minnesota was so bad that season. They were well under .500, n just happened to go on a run. Think we even got Murphy from them that year too.

Yes, they got Murphy and Taglianetti for Jim Johnson and Chris Dahlquist. Going on memory, not looking it up, not 100% sure on Dahlquist.

Minnesota beat Chicago, the Presidents trophy winner. They also beat an aging and retooled Edmonton team before losing to Pittsburgh. They were definitely playing over their heads.

I would not trade Rust for a 1st unless we were talking a top 10 pick.

I would only trade Guentzel in a Hornqvist type deal where we get a player who scores slightly less but gives us a net front presence. (Not shipping Jake out because he's small... but because we desperately need a net front presence)

I don't think we need to make that many moves to be honest. With average goaltending, we are probably still playing. It's not like we can get Eichel or Tkachuk so I would much rather move some periphery pieces and target Coleman or Saad without giving up assets.

Yeah it's definitely not like Cole Caufield or Brayden Point are playing well. They are definitely getting knocked off their game due to their size.

I wouldnt bet against the Habs right now. They have a magic going on amongst themselves. Always the underdog, never given a chance but totally believe in themselves. Also, they are kinda like the Isles when it comes to limiting HDSC's against (62 HDSC's Habs to 49 for Knights at 5 on 5),...and then when the team does get a HDSC in top form Price is there.

I wish I was in Montreal last night. My favorite city I've ever been (9 times), has a this hard to explain amazing feel and atmosphere, and last night would of been just nuts there. Yes , I know, there was some tear gas...some arrests...flipped cop car.....none of that scares me and I have the ability to realize a few bad apples dont spoil the bunch.
