Hmmm, maybe just maybe look to the guy that was greedy with his deal, has scored 0 goals in 18 playoff games, who is NOT built mentally or physically for playoff hockey...not yet, maybe in 2 years or right around the time Matthews is a UFA....and trade that guy because it makes HOCKEY TEAM SENSE if we want to win anything before Marner's balls drop.

It's not that Marner isn't good, he isn't good right now and this Leafs team needs good right now before they can't afford a goalie, defense or good wingers....which is almost right now....AND resign Matthews as a UFA.

Just hockey sense. It's tough.

Edit: Sooner or later its going to be a question between resigning Matthews, keeping JT and hopefully a true #1D and #1G and Marner. Why lose until then???

I’m a goalie as are others on here (goalie bros do you agree?) and watching they goal I said out loud “nice shot - RVH fail by Vasy / poopty goal”. I got 2 texts right after it was scored from other goalies saying the same.

Vasy had no reason to be down and he gave the shooter that spot to pick and he did, as can and will most NHL Players with time and space.

That’s a badly played shot by Vasy, at a critical time.

The OT goal was a snipe! Terrible give away by the Bolts on it and Vasy got caught a bit deep and probably flat footed. That one second is all it takes for a good NHL shooter.

Vasy is so big he rarely gets burnt on the RVH but god dammed shooters in the NHL are so good they can pick that spot right beside your ear. The worst part of that is the beer league monkeys see it and think they can do it to and try it - and BANG puck to the cage.

Price is big like Vas too, covers a lot of the net when he's calm, wouldn't be bad seeing that goalie match up!

But Islanders v Habs would be great for different reasons and will either be an outlier of star power or GMs will start to recognize some things they may have thought don't matter until now. Those pesky intangibles....like balls.
