I would agree with you.....and I'll throw it out there....if Hawks got wind of a pending law suit may have been THE reason McDonough was fired and not the spin job they threw out there.
See how this plays out, but as we saw with the Kane situation, I don't expect the Hawks to make any statements until they absolutely have to. THey seem to go with the stone wall of silence routine. - SteveRain
probably the better way to go IMO for them. If they make a statment and then more comes out that was not part of the statement they look like they lied publicly.

What statement do you think they should make? Any lawyer worth his salt would tell his client that is under litigation to make no public statements.

I loved it when Foley ripped Karpotsev a new one! - paulr
As much as Karpovtsev played lazy and like he didn’t care, God rest his soul, as he along with 42 others were killed in that awful Russian plane crash years ago. |

I don't expect them to and I don't think there is an upside to doing so. I was just stating that anyone expecting them to say something is wishing upon a star.

I rank not flying on Russian airlines even higher than not drafting goalies the first round. |

Agreed...I wasn't saying that they should OR I expect them to say anything....just stating in the past they have taken the silent routine.
Is what it is....see how this plays out once/if it ever gets to court. Sure it's likely to be settled and sealed like so many others so we likely will never know who knew what, etc. Nature of the beast.
Very alarming if true. Sickening. |

The fact that someone in the marketing department made a statement could mean McD made the decision to cover this up, and if it can be proven they knew and still wrote a letter of recommendation it could open up a huge can of liability. Negligent..definitely...liability...still a lot of questions. The McD firing/resignation was a shock and usually when a big name is let go it takes a while for reasons to surface. This may be it. As far as the Hawks being responsible for calling the cops...I disagree. The victims were adults, not children. They are the ones who have to engage law enforcement if they want to pursue that route. |

I’m not sure his termination is related to this issue, why would they wait to fire him ten years later? |

Yeah I don't know that it was on the Hawks to report this to the police per se, but I do think they definitely (frank)ed themselves with that letter of recommendation for the guy.

Exactly. And we're getting multiple people now who say they did.
That's a real problem. Even if there were rumours of it and they didn't investigate it further, that would be a real problem.
Instead they have a guy who publicly is saying he straight up told them. That's even worse.
It's been a week and a bit. You'd think the Hawks would come out and deny it or sue for libel/defamation if this guy was out to lunch. |

Agreed on the calling cops part. Not sure why an adult would need a team to call the police. Very odd....
Letter of recommendation and digital proof of texts, etc likely are the smoking guns here. |

Likely thought it was put to bed, said person no longer with the organization, etc.
Who knows.....but if the alleged is factual, would be a very just reason to fire management who oversaw this.

Again nothing has been proven, but 1 of things the NFL does get right....is doing their own investigation into situations off the field. You would think the NHL would get involved here and do some homework/background especially interviewing some of the ex management, players, etc to see if there is enough to warrant concern.
However it's the NHL, so I wont' hold my breath.

Have a few work friends who travel there. There are spots that are nice, but overall it's very 3rd world....plumbing, roads, people on top of one another, etc....very eye opening was the best description I was given. Same guys go to China and even remote parts, and would go there in second vs India for what it's worth...... |

Yeah. The NCAA (University of Miami) has been going around and asking questions, apparently. I wish it was hard to believe that the NHL wasn't doing the same.

A co-worker offered to go with us to India to show us around. He’s advised me that you can visit India and avoid the areas of slums and overcrowding. Another co-worker offered to show my wife and I Brazil, but she doesn’t want to go with the current political climate. A good friend has tried to get me to go to Ecuador for years. Apparently there are large American expat communities for tired Americans looking for great weather, a less expensive lifestyle and access to good and less expensive healthcare.
One of my daughters visited mainland China and Hong Kong and she recommends it. And like India allot of Chinese cuisine is exceptional. |

We don't even know truly if there was a letter of recommendation. That is just what the john doe 2 victim and his lawyers are saying. But per that article that was posted, the person hiring Aldrich said that they barely did any checks on his employment, because he was a family member of another staff member, and was a former video coach of the Blackhawks. So I doubt there was an actual letter of recommendation. I also do think this is why McDonough was fired, for sweeping this under the rug. When he was fired, it was said it was for something pretty serious, and so I would bet this was it.
