1. Hamilton type...like McNabb in Vegas type....can clear the net with some nasty and is a threat from the point.
2. Josh Anderson/Tkachuk type for the wings of the top two lines. Hyman was good but would be even better with a bit of nasty.
3. Bottom 6 that everyone has to forecheck and throw hits. No BS flybys or they get the bench. I always find that guys from the Marlies that are trying to prove themselves can do this VERY well. Mix a few Marlies with some defensively aware NHL players, ie: Spezza....not old dead on skates guys but Perry/Spezza/Foligno types.
LOSE:
Any player necessary to make that work. Unfortunately that may be:
Rielly
Marner
or
Nylander
Hyman
Dermott
Engvall
Thornton
Simmonds
Saad, Matthews, Nylander
Roberston, JT, Palmieri
Goodrow, Kerfoot, Micheyev
Galchenyuk, Brooks, Spezza
Muzzin, Hamilton
Oleksiak, Brodie
Sandin, Bogo
Campbell
(???)
I TRULY believe this type of line up would do MUCH better in the playoffs. Sorry Marner....but we need the $ and BALLS.
Disclaimer, I did not do the Cap, but I think it's close.

Really?
Well that's unusual.

I'm sure it's quite common for athletes with long term significant others. Plenty don't live in the city the play in during the off season so long distance would be necessary. Especially if the wife/girlfriend have their own careers going on. |

He has actually stated his desire to come play in Toronto before to be close to his home in London...so I wouldnt be sure about that.

I don't know, I mean of course it's always a possibility, especially if the wife has a career of her own and they can make whayever choices works for them.
But I'd say the vast majority of hockey wives are living in the same house as the player.
No scientific studies has been made though. Just going with what I've seen from players over the years. |

The Leafs have exceptional skill. But, are they too soft?
Some folks believe that the skill that allows you to flourish in the regular season is easily neutralized once the playoffs begin. You need crash and bang combined with high end skill in order to triumph in the post season.
Love Jason Spezza, Joe Thornton is a genuine superstar, Joe took Patrick Marleau's roster spot. Marleau we all know, is a first ballot hall of famer. In his day, Simmons was a real force.
But, what is this Leaf fascination with aging veterans? Can it work in the playoff grind? - spatso
Toronto should focus exclusively on the regular season championship. They should try and win those. Nothing wrong with winning the President's Trophy. ππ
The Stanley Cup tournament is something entirely different than the NHL season. |

Not sure why the Leafs would want Saad. He's an overpaid plug - coming off a bad season. I wouldn't mind if they moved Marner, but surely there is a better forward available than Saad. Montreal added Anderson which worked out ok. Capitals just gave up alot to get Anthony Mantha from the Wings, If the Leafs add a power forward, God I hope its not Saad. |

Perry has been an absolute warrior all year and an amazing influence on all our young players to boot.
Hell you can see Anderson, Kotkaniemi and others trying out some of his moves out there, it's pretty amazing. - Scabeh
Statistically speaking, Perry has been below replacement level.
His "influence" on the Habs young players is likely over-stated and is absolutely unquantifiable.
But who cares about that? I don't want to see the Leafs with Corey Perry, thanks! |

But then you keep Kerfoot, Mik and Gally. Thereβs $6M in soft money without the skill.
