Looks like TOR want to sign both so they are going to need to be active to clear room.

This is why JB needs to stay out of the high end UFA market.

Risto, Reinhart are interesting trade options so, are Jost & Foote.

I would think any trade with Colorado, would involve JT Miller. Colorado is obviously a very good team, but they lack a certain type of player.
JT fits that type of player they need, plus they could use another defenseman, that is similar to what Graves provides.

Definitely stay away from the top end UFAs.

Wennberg and Larsson are my mid-tier signing wants. The problem with trading with teams that have cap problems is they're not really likely to trade away their young guys on ELCs and cheap contracts/RFA second deals.

I don't consider Hyman high end . I think Hamilton Landeskog Ovechkin Hall as the high end guys. Hyman is next tier down and I agree let Tor go after them.

Landeskog is a guy I would try to make work.

If it takes JTM to land quality players, you'd have to look at it right?

Is Pod untouchable?

I'm on the trade JTM train before his contract is up. I don't think his window fits with the teams. If you trade him to get back a number 1/2 RHD, I think you made that trade.

I don't think Pod is untouchable. It'd just have to be a very very good deal to trade him. Much like Hoglander.

I didn't know he was a UFA. You can never have enough Swedes, why not?

I wouldn't be trading Podkolzin, especially if you are moving Miller. The Canucks desperately need what those guys provide.
I really don't know what the answer is with this team, they are kinda past the point of no return, where they need to get better, but they also need to retool on the fly.

If you are going to have any Swedes you may as well have the best one. He plays more like a North American player than most of the real ones.

Marner is almost immovable at this point. He's a good player, but 5million aav above his actual worth

Because he's 28, 29 later this year, and will probably want a 7 year contract with a big cap hit to move away from Colorado. This was being discussed the other day with some people saying they didn't want to give out big/long contracts, and now people are wanting to give out a big/long contract.

I like Landeskog, would be happy if he was on the team, but I don't think it's the right time to be big game hunting.

I agree, not sure the powers that be, agree with this though.
After what transpired last off-season, I doubt they are willing to move out any of the key pieces this summer.

I don't remember one person on here saying sign a free agent for 7 years but it is always fun to make things up because that is what some folks on here are best at.
