Frankly its amazing he isn't shooting 1000 foul shots a day at practice. By all accounts he does not.
Last night was one of the most aggravating things I have witnessed in a while. Im pretty pissed at Tobias Harris, by my count at one point he missed 4 shots in a row within 3 feet of the basket.
Simmonds may be a great passer and defender, but if you are a MAX player, the other team shouldnt be able to foul you in crunch time because they have no worries about you making both your foul shots.
He is freakin 6' 10", he should be able to shoot 60% in his sleep.

But they have Cole Caufield and the Flyers passed on him. - MJL
Funny, because the same people who lust after Caufield are the same who say they wouldn't touch Jeff Skinner w/ a ten foot pole.

At least Harris showed up and put 24 points and 14 boards. Simmons didn't even want the ball or to attempt a shot. He passed on a situation where he had an uncontested shot at the rim.

Well that's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. It's the 9M cap hit that gives people issue with Skinner. Think about that. 9M for Jeff Skinner.

We already have another middle aged guy about to make big money in coots. If we get another one it better be a great Dman. |

It absolutely a possibility that Seattle takes a low cap hit player from the Flyers. They are not going to take a high cap hit player from every single team. The Flyers cannot feed them anybody. Low cap hit players will be on the Flyers unprotected list. - MJL
The only low cap players are Braun, Haag and NAK. I was reading any article today that believed Seattle might do what Vegas did a few years ago, draft a lot of low cap defenseman and then flip them at the deadline, and that player could be Braun. The Flyers can absolutely not let this happen, otherwise they are sunk. If the Flyers have to sweeten it as the previous poster suggested, then they should do it. I cannot watch another season of these stiffs! |

He did put up 24. But he missed 15 shots and many of them were almost gimmes.
And yes, when Simmons passed up on that shot when he was alone under the rim, I think that sealed it.

Well let us know when all 3 of those you mention are no longer on this roster.
Seattle taking Braun would be a smart move. - hello it's me 2050
you're right, it would be the smart move. Fletcher has got to cut this off. |

Huh? 6 Super bowls, 4 World Series, 1 NBA Championship and 1 Cup, all in the last 2 decades make Boston a loser? What are you smoking? |

No, there will be other low cap hit players on the Flyers unprotected list. The Flyers should not give up assets to Seattle to make them select a certain player. Braun would not get a team a significant draft pick or prospect in a trade deadline deal so I wouldn't be concerned with Seattle taking Braun for that reason. |

I don't think the Flyers should use any picks to sweeten anything either. Most "experts" seem to think Seattle takes JVR or Ghost, but there are a few out there who think Braun will be the guy. A lot depends on who gets picked from other teams and where they are in relation to the cap floor/ceiling.
A lot is riding on whether or not this past season was just a speedbump due to all the strange circumstances of the season in general. I tend to LEAN towards the reason as being yes, and expect many of these players to improve.
I know that is a big IF. But its not an outrageous POV. - MBFlyerfan
Listen G, Jake, Ghost and JVR are not improving, if anything they are going to continue to slide. Maybe Hayes gets back to his 2019 level, and Couts and Laughts can stay at their level. Therefore to expect any dramatic swing here from these guys is just plain silly. Now, Hart, Farabee, TK, Allison and York still have upside so the hope is they continue to grow. You also hope Provorov will be better if he can get a stable partner. But let be realistic, without significant roster changes, this team is not going anywhere! |

What's the definition of significant roster changes? With the current NHL landscape, what are you expecting to happen? It has always been about the young players and it will continue to be about the young players. They have a few holes to fill for sure but I'm not expecting miracles. |

The past 2 decades have been fun but its definitely over now. Before Brady came to Boston, we used to call Boston 'Loserville". I mean how many cities have a parade for a former player that won a cup with another team???? Then Brady came and changed everything, really it was him and all him, no doubt about it. Now he is gone, and the party went with him. |

As I have previously posted, I am hoping we can trade/jettison some of our core (i.e Ghost, JVR and Jake), sign some mid tier FAs that will bring some needed ingredients like toughness, speed and leadership, and continue to draft and develop well to build a contending team. That is why I don't want to sign players like Hamilton or Jones, I think the best way to build a team is by drafting and developing good players, and then augmenting with solid vets. |

So replacing mid tier UFA type players with other mid tier UFA types. In my opinion, bringing in mid tier UFA types is exactly what the Flyers shouldn't do. Either bring in top flight players or bring in short term vets as stop gaps. Don't tie the team up in cap space while making the team better but not good enough. Worst thing they can do. I'd rather they do nothing.

The same blue print pretty much every team follows.
So your the opposing GM. Do you have interest in those 3 players? |

The odds of us drafting a player of Jones/Hamilton caliber is slim. Trading or signing someone like that may be the only option to get a #1 RHD.

The team isn't going to be significantly different until they are forced to rebuild or the view from Dave Scott changes. The core of this team is old'ish and declining, add to that no one is really coming up to replace them other than maybe Farabee who had a good second season last year. |

Im totally fine with signing mid tier UFA as long as it brings a different skill set than what we have. We need some physicality, hard to play against players. I think we need at least 4-5 new starters on this team next year, to change the culture
