Just watched Moneyball.
Boy Dubas is NOT Billy Beane. Beane had balls to make tough moves. Don't see that happening in Leaf land.
If a team is lacking heart and balls, you need to start with the most overvalued, softest player and work your way through the roster to build a tough team. You have to start there, whoever that player is. Whoever it is!

Gotta wait until July 1st for the signing bonus to be paid. Then Marner this unnamed player has to go.

That’s probably a tough deal to make. That’s a lot of salary going both ways. Is there precedent for a trade of this size in the last 10-15 years? I’m trying to think of one and all I got is maybe Shea Weber and Subban?

Send him to LA. They have 20M in cap next year, looking for top-6 wingers, and have a ton of high end prospects.

They’re loaded in terms of prospects and cap space for sure, but I suspect they make a splash for Eichel before Marner. Who knows, though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Probably right, and one team got it up the hoop on that one. Leafs probably lose any trade involving Marner. What would be coming back and how much salary would be freed up?
Hindsight Is easy and It makes for alot of experts, Perhaps the Leafs need an experienced coach and GM, And It might be time to unload one of the core forwards so that they can fill out the lines with some solid depth.

I agree with you. But I have a feeling Dubie doubles down on his Dubieness which will lead to his demise.

Yeah, exactly. You’d have to have the stars align for another team looking to make a big time change or a like the gull said, a team with a lot of space and quality prospects.

Sorry, we're paying a guy 10.9 million per season to 'need more support'. Even if your point is accurate (which it isn't), it then becomes further evidence of why he needs to go. He makes don't worry about me money not I need help money, he's nothing but a cap vacuum if you've got to further allocate dollars to get him to perform. - joel878
Sundin was a top 15 player in the league, made great money.
He needed more support.
Mitch and Austin are like a pair of big tits, they’re great but they need support.

Ship Mitch to Arizona.
Step 1: Leafs trade for Kessel before his signing bonus is due for a 5th or something. Leafs pay signing bonus and Arizona saves 5 million.
Step 2: Leafs Trade MM to Arizona for Chychrun or some sh!t after July 1st. Arizona gets 4 years of mitch for like 6 million per year, and don't have to pay big $$$ until July 2022.
Flip Kessel to a cash strapped team with cap space if Leafs don't want him.

Why trade Marner for prospects who will develop when Matthews walks out the door?
