Their perception might now change given what a bust he was. His highlight as a Leaf was wearing that old, smelly 93 cap at a press conference
- RogerRoeper

Do you watch games? He was injured, but lets push the hat narrative instead.

Tavares was a bust this year too, right?

Your really something . You must be the original hockey scholar . Instead of mocking because your so smart maybe you should listen. Putting the Cherry b.s to the side for a minute the point is that if you want killer instinct and grit then the organization has to promote and demand that mindset. Why is it that a guy like Taylor Hall starts hitting backchecking and even drops the mitts ? It’s because that’s the attitude of his team. He sees Marchand and Pasta not backing away and it rubs off. Marchand plays like a killer. Now he takes over aggressive penalties at times but thats better than getting thrown around like a rag doll . The leafs management and some of their high intellect fans can’t admit that mindset and attitude makes a major difference in play. It would effect teammates and opponents if everyone has the junkyard dog attitude. Starting with your leaders. But the Cherry crap your throwing is laughable. Nobody is talking about being thugs. The Islanders , you know the team with the traditional Cherry like men in charge don’t take a backward step , hit more than anyone and don’t take many penalties. Their success has a lot to do with attitude and team philosophy. If the leaf group pushed that idea instead of the we are so talented story maybe things change. Now I’m not a genius like you but I try to listen instead of mocking. Now you can continue with how much of a brute Cherry was.

I love the irony of Leaf fans complaining about cap hits and cap hell because they can't give Zack Hyman 6 million per

Yes, Habs, Isles, and Knights are juggernaughts
- RogerRoeper

What's funny is that those are three teams that you sh!t on the most.

It's almost like you have no (frank)ing idea what you are talking about and it is proven year after year.

I agree with this. I also think with the NHL continuing to not call penalties. It truly gives everyone a chance. That's exactly what Betteman wants.
- RogerRoeper

Hudson Bay rules have been around in the playoffs since Christ was a carpenter. Where have you been? Mario Lemieux once called the NHL a garage league. Gary loves parity. Hudson Bay rules aren't going away. Maybe Dubas can be the GM of a ringette team?

When you can take a team that is devoid of hi-end star power, get them to commit to a (defensive/hard-working) game plan, look out.

There is far too much parity in the NHL to take any team for granted if they're buying into something.

- gravyface

Exactly, you don’t need superstars. You need guys who will play to the plan and not afraid to take a little hit to make a play.

We had a couple of those guys, but they were injured for the most part.

According to Jack Han, the best D offered was Brandon Montour for Nylander.

WE are so reactionary. Pietrangelo was overall ok this year, but not great. The Habs might go to the finals, and I'd pick them to miss the playoffs next year. 3 out of 4 remaining teams are very flawed.

- RogerRoeper

Your lack of self awareness is baffling. You're known as the village idiot of the leafs thread and maybe the biggest moron to post on HB. Yet here you are offering another stupid opininion.

To win the cup you need superstars. That's why the 1 tteam left with the most stars will win the cup for the second straight year.

Hard working teams can go far, but to win it all? Doesn't happen.

Roger literally justifies EVERY move the Leafs make or don't make. It's like Dubas is hitting home run after home run. I just don't understand why he hasn't won anything yet?

You can’t have a team of supersoft players

TB superstars would punch the poop out of ours without breaking a sweat.

We just give them a smile of smugness just before we head to the golf course. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Three of the four remaining teams are SEVERELY flawed...not they have their weaknesses. No no, SEVERELY flawed.

Hahahaha look at those stupid habs knights and islanders! Only severely flawed teams make it to the semis. Don't they know the best teams get eliminated in the first round??

Severely flawed are my rebuilding Red Wings. The 4 teams still playing are the exact opposite of the Leafs. Maybe it's the Leafs who are flawed? Nah that can't be it!

leafs are most likely only going to get prospects and picks for marner, no GM should be dumb enough to trade a player of comparable age and point production that make 4-5M less than marner for marner, the win in a marner trade is the cap space to get depth, leafs need players like Toffoli/Anderson,Josh, guys who can score in the 20s and make 5-6M
- Mithos

I doubt the buds trade Mitch.

He just needs more support, more Josh Andersons on the team

Sorry, we're paying a guy 10.9 million per season to 'need more support'. Even if your point is accurate (which it isn't), it then becomes further evidence of why he needs to go. He makes don't worry about me money not I need help money, he's nothing but a cap vacuum if you've got to further allocate dollars to get him to perform.

I remember when that was said about the first LA and Chicago teams... And every Devils team to hoist the cup.

Even if Tampa repeats, they're 18 million above the cap. That doesn't prove poop other than if you can somehow screw the cap you have an advantage.

Other guy nailed it, you are the village idiot of hockeybuzz.

Pietrangelo has been excellent in the playoffs. Saying Montreal won't make the playoffs is foolish and childish. Any team with Price in net has a chance to win it all as he has poven this year. If the Habs don't win another game this season, i would give the Conn Smythe to Price. He's been that good. If you don't see that - you are blind and do not understand hockey at all.
